On October 26, Warner Home Video, in association with Lucasfilm Ltd., will release Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Complete Season Two. This four-disc set will include all 22 episodes from Season Two, featuring bounty hunters, space pirates, giant monsters, mind-controlling brain worms and the return of Boba Fett. It will also include a 64-page production journal with concept designs, original sketches and notes from Supervising Director Dave Filoni.
Created and executive produced by George Lucas, the first-ever TV production from Lucasfilm Animation explores the tumultuous time between Episodes II and III, expanding the scope of Star Wars beyond anything seen in the feature films.
Special features include:
Behind-The-Scenes featurettes on each disc
Attack of the Zillo Beast
Magic of the Holocron
Return to Geonosis
Creating Mandalore
64-page production journal
The Jedi Temple Archives (BD-exclusive): an extensive database exploring special effects footage, early concept art, 3-D character and object turnarounds and early animation
This is great news because I love The Clone Wars. Glad to see that the artwork has been kept in a similar style to Season One, and also the bonus features are the same too. Day one buy for me.
Season one was a blind buy for me and I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it is, especially since I don't normally buy animation. Because of that, I decliberately resisted watching any episodes of season two with the inetentions of making it a day one buy for me when it is released.
My most anticipated Blu-ray release. Season One surprised the hell out of me and is a must-own. I hear Season Two is even better so I've been impatiently waiting for its release. However, I'm sad I still have to wait so long!
The clone wars is the best star wars in years (i'm not a prequel hater, since i loved them, but Lucas' prequel world is better suited to a weekly series as oppsed to 3 films, and this show proves it)
Season 2 was one of the best shows this year, it really carried an arc. Anyone who wrote this show off after the less then great "movie" about jabba's gay nephew owes it to themselves as a star wars fan to check out what this series has to offer, it's amazing
lol @ "jabba's gay nephew"
Thanks for the laugh, Wdm81
I want to blind buy both seasons some day. Star Wars geek here who hasn't been into it for quite some time (I used to be a staple on theforce.net message boards for years!) but maybe this is the ticket to getting reacquainted. It seems to be a critical and fan success, unlike the Clone Wars movie and even the prequels.
dmarvin ... Blind buy season one and you'll be hooked immediately .. But be warned, Jar Jar appears in a couple of episodes ... The thing is though, the Clone Wars takes place between episiodes 2 and 3 of the prequel movies and I found that once I got into the Clone Wars series, the depth that is added to the overall story and to the lesser known Star Wars characters; the prequel movies are much more enjoyable.
Lucas has said the Clone Wars series has to be a limited run; my bet now is that once this is all done, we'll see the Star Wars saga pick up after Revenge of the Jedi in animation like the Clone Wars and that is a very exciting prospect!
Sweetness. The first season rocked on TV and Blu-Ray. Season two rocked on TV, so I'm confident this set will rock, especially with this having all the extras that made the first set rock. Day one buy.
I decided not to catch this on Cartoon Network so that I can enjoy them in full 1080p at home. Totally amazing series, it was very unexpected that this could be so good, for fans and non-fans. A MUST buy for any SW fan and a highly recommended for non-SW fans.
sithlord, most likely NO LOSSLESS audio. Warner Home Video just doesn't view that as a priority for the series they distribute. i can't fathom why it wouldn't make lucasfilm (a huge proponent of high quality audio) mad! if i was lucasfilm it would make ME incredibly mad. the only WB distribute TV that includes lossless are the HBO produced ones. but that's more HBO than WB (same time warner owner corporation). non HBO WB TV titles gets the shaft.
I made the mistake of getting involved with this show mid-season. Of course, once i did, I had to get the first season (in BRD form) and will have to get the second season as well now . Can't WAIT!
@ Juan Calonge
You sure it's a 4-disc set? The BD version of Season 1 was a 3-disc set, although this set looks like it has some additional special features that the first didn't have that may require an extra disc.
@JediFonger
Yeah, WB's release of Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles didn't have lossless either. Although its 640Kbps DD 5.1 track is pretty good.
@Nemesis_Enfrocer
They'll probably just have those behind the scenes featurettes for each episode, which I found were better than commentaries because they were visual as well. I mean they usually ran between 5-9 minutes each depending, and for an 22 minute episode that ain't bad.
@ those who haven't seen Season 2 yet, you're in for a treat with the Geonosis epsidoes. There's some visuals and action in those that rival what we saw in Ep. II. I think there's about a 3-6 episode arc in there in the first quarter of the season that deals with Geonosis and some stowaways. Then the Mandalorians make their appearance in this season for a couple episodes.
One thing you'll notice with this season is that the character animations are a bit smoother and more fluid.. Especially for the light saber battles.
When it only involves the clones, episodes are great. Put in the moronic magic boys and girls who use mido-whatevers to.. to.... push stuff around and perform ballets with light sticks?
Hair pulling moments in this season abound here(you will know what I write about when you watch this season):
-Use the "force" to trip opponent instead of chasing them through multiple buildings? A 'Three Stooges' moment for the kids!
-Use the "force" to disarm opponents the ol' Darth Vader way? You could just see the blush from Han there.
-Use the "force" to slightly change the opponents aim with laser sword or gun? That big Bad (in the negative sense) loong battle at the end of the third prequel would of come to a quicker cooler end...
-Have a person who uses the force as above to Dominate both polar opposite at all times by simply using the force as far as one can truly do so. (Read above for a small taste) One who has a wife / husband and multiple children unaffected by the silly concept of either going ultra bland or crazy nuts when using said "force".
(Last one didn't happen in the season but I truly am wishing for it)
Every example above is what you'll NOT be seeing with the purchase of this season... Or any other season before or after it.
Blech, I hope they change that coverart Also it looks like another annoying book-type case where you can't actually close it which I really hated & had to throw away the backcover slip because it looked so tacky. The AU release of the first season was much better, a disc & a separate artwork book inside a slipcase
I definitely plan to get this, but I have one minor gripe about both this set and the first season set (well, in addition to the digibook packaging, but I won't go there right now).
Is it just me, or does the wording "The Complete Season One" and "The Complete Season Two" just sound wrong and awkward? It should either be "The Complete First Season", "The Complete Second Season" or simply "Season One" and "Season Two".
I know, it's not that important in the grand scheme of things, but it just doesn't sound right at all and kind of bugs me.
According to my starwars homing beacon the audio will be DTS audio and hang on brazilduluwita we're almost there maybe for 2011 we'll see the ultimate boxset of the complete saga they are working already in the bluray release MTFBWY!
