Kick-Ass Announced on Blu-ray

Posted June 7, 2010 10:20 AM by Juan Calonge

Lionsgate FilmsLionsgate Home Entertainment has set an August 3 release date for the Blu-ray edition of Kick-Ass, the action movie about do-it-yourself superheroes based on the comic written by Mark Millar and John S. Romita Jr. This Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy pack will exclusively feature a making-of documentary, and a feature-length Ass-Kicking BonusView mode.

In addition, the Metamenu Remote powered by BD Touch, another Blu-ray exclusive, will allow for iPhone OS and Android users to personalize their experience with this state-of-the-art free app. Once connected through BD-Live, viewers can select menus using intuitive gestures, find scenes by dialogue, discover details about the actors, and more. With headphones, they can select to listen in alternate language tracks, or enjoy other synchronized content including portions of the Ass-Kicking Bonus View (which users can take "to go" on their mobile device).

Special features include:
  • Ass-Kicking BonusView Mode: synchronous with the feature film, this multi-media presentation incorporates video and audio commentary, behind-the-scenes clips and illustrative graphics with co-writer/producer/director Matthew Vaughn, plus cast and crew providing an all-access perspective on Kick-Ass (BD-exclusive)
  • Audio commentary with writer-director Matthew Vaughn
  • Documentary: A New Kind of Superhero: The Making of Kick-Ass (BD-exclusive)
  • Featurette: It's On! The Comic Book Origin of Kick-Ass
  • Gallery: The Art of Kick-Ass
  • Marketing archive
  • BD Touch and Metamenu Remote
  • Lionsgate Live™ enabled, featuring extra content for Internet-connected players
  • Enhanced for D-Box™ Motion Control Systems

WoW, I loved this movie and loved hit-girl; she needs her own movie!, o'l girl kicked much ass too! hell in kick ass SHE WAS THE MOVIE! Ok, I'm back, since this is coming from Lionsgate, it is very possible it might have a 7.1 mix; they are big on the 7.1 soundtrack for movies. I will buy it, day one no matter what!

Best Movie of the year so far (I love it when I go in with very high expectations and they are exceeded. I can only say this of a few movies - Drag Me To Hell and The Dark Knight spring to mind).

@ ebrown

Just double checked and apparently you are correct. also apparently i'm an idiot cause I could have sworn i heard she was 18 or 19 and was just playing an 11 year old in the movie

Loved the way Roger Ebert tore into this mess! And called out the fans for being the amoral fascists they are.

nathanp
 - Jun 08, 2010

Ebert's chin is on too tight, I think they mistakenly took out part of his brain when did one of his surgeries last year. The guy's become pretty out of touch recently.

Wdm81
 - Jun 08, 2010

Vote plusVote minus

Yeah Ebert probabaly forgot he was watching a movie and it wasn't real life, after he wrote a review insulting us for enjoying "watching girls get hit" he went to his grand children and talked about art direction and editing

He needs to hang it up, walk out with his chin held high.
