Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced Winter's Bone for Blu-ray release on October 26. This independent drama about a 17-year-old girl out to find her fugitive father earned universal critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the Grand Jury Prize for a Dramatic Film at the Sundance Film Festival.
This is a must for me. Rarely is film making done so honestly as it is in this film. Speaking of downbeat movies, wish Shotgun Stories would hit blu as well.
I want to see this. i will have to rent this. As good as it looks, I am picky what I see in theaters anymore. Matinee is now 8 dollars, after Matinee is 11, 3-D is 15 and 11 for Matinee. Crazy. Plus I don't think this movie played anywhere need me
I really want to see this. Would have seen it in theaters if it opened here. It still could as it's doing very solid numbers in limited release and keeps expanding. This reminds me of Frozen River, which was one of 2008's best movies. Jennifer Lawrence has an extremely great shot at getting nominated for Best Actress for this from everything I've heard. She's practically a lock at this point. If it doesn't open here I'll definitely check it out on Blu-ray when it's released.
Thanks, Mike Scott, on the information about Frozen River. I'd never heard of it until I read your comment, and it is now in my 'ZipList' (Canadian-Netflix queue).
No problem. Hope you enjoy it. It's a very thrilling indie drama with a great lead performance from Melissa Leo (who was nominated for Best Actress for her turn).
