Inception Blu-ray Dated in the UK

Posted September 3, 2010 03:53 AM by Juan Calonge

Warner Bros.According to retailer information, Christopher Nolan's mindbending thriller Inception will be released on Blu-ray in the UK on December 6, in a "triple play" (BD/DVD/Digital Copy) combo pack. Special features will reportedly include WB's Maximum Movie Mode, a first for a Nolan film. Also available will be a very enticing Limited Edition Briefcase with five movie art cards, a spinning top and a booklet – which is actually the user manual for the PASIV (Portable Automated Somnacin IntraVenous) device used in the movie.

According to product listings, special features will include:
  • Maximum Movie Mode: Christopher Nolan and Leonardo DiCaprio extract information about the world of Inception and learn about all things you may have missed in the film. Questions, answers, surprises and intrigue are all there for the taking!
  • Prologue (Motion Comics):
    • Inception: The Cobol Job: Online comic that details how Cobb, Arthur and Nash came to be enlisted by Cobol Engineering to perform an extraction on Saito.
    • Inception: The Big Under: The story that reveals how Cobb and company get to Saito to put him under for the dream featured in the beginning of the film.
  • Dream of Consciousness: Taking some of the most fascination and cutting-edge dream research to date on lucid dreaming, leading scientist to make the case that the dream world is not an altered state of consciousness, but a fully functional parallel reality.
  • 15 Focus Pods
  • Photo Gallery

If studios want to combat piracy, they better start releasing titles on the same day worldwide, if say for example a title comes out in Australia 2 months after its been released in the uk or u.s, their gonna lose most of the Australian buyers to free bootleg copies or vice versa .Just a hint to whats going on online!! so WB you better bring this out worldwide on the same day.

Let's hope we get the same goodies here in the US. I'm so ready to have this movie at home to check out the D-BOX codes.

I got lucky. The Cinema i frequent had recently installed fresh Subwoofers. This movie kicked real deep sonically. An intricate movie for the senses, to which i really appreciated.

Hopefully they bring the limited brief case to NZ

Best Movie of the Year! It doesn't hurt that it's getting a fancy packaging as well. And a Nolan/DiCaprio Maximum Movie Mode? Day 1 for me.

Best movie of the decade for me. Close with Dark City for me. Loved everybit of this movie.

BTW if this isnt released in your region in time just be patient no excuse to pirate a movie and nothing beats originals. (for keeps that is)

Can't Wait, this along with Toy Story 3 have been the only real standout movies this year and I really want both on Blu-Ray.

Thies is great news! This collectors edition looks awesome. I just pre-orderd it at amazon. I like the addition of the spinning top and the case. Well, this is the kind of movie you want a special package for. Now lets see what they come up with in the States.

Can't wait for this to come out! I'm getting really tired of my Inception poster just taunting me in my HT...day 1 for sure. The Nolan/DiCaprio Maximum Movie Mode will be awesome! It would be nice if the Criterion release of Nolan's 'Following' were released to coincide with this.

Chances are this will be region-free. Warner Bros. very very rairly region codes their Blu-rays. I will probably pick this UK version up. However, I may wait until I see what the US copy has to offer. But this set is perfect. Just what I want. Not a bunch of extra crap.

Looks to me like you get a bunch of useless crap and no behind the scenes special features for your money.

BluBrown

Ummm....Maximum Movie Mode is pretty much a "behind the scenes" feature that runs the entire length of the film.

Pre ordered mine! And to those of you in the US, I wouldn't be expecting much difference for the American release. Judging by the certificate free artwork it looks like these pictures are of the US edition. The yellow and blue "DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital Copy" sticker is also something I have only seen on Warner's US discs that I have imported. The UK will probably be exactly the same just with the nasty certificates splashed on the corners.

Kinda cool. But disc only is all I need/want.

(Still have zero need for DVD or digital copy, but studios don't seem to provide too many alternate options in that regard, unless you want to wait a few years.)

Well if the briefcase edition comes out here, I'll be getting it too for sure. Saw it 3 times in theaters (once in IMAX which blew me away sonically and visually) and is definitely one of my favorites of the year (in a year where I'll be lucky to have a top 10). DTS-HD MA audio too please. Maybe squeeze out 2 extra channels of sound too for those of us who can utilize it? Probably asking too much there lol.

How come the US never gets cool shit like this, no steelbooks, nothing! Remember when Inglourious Basterds came out in that beast box set, did the US get it? No!!!!! Germany had to get it. How about when Grindhouse came out in that awesome box set? Did the US get it? No!!!!!!! Only now is it coming out, oh, but wait, it's not in the awesome box. It's in some standard cheap fucking case. God this irritates me!!!

What a fantastic little set, the spinning top is a stroke of genius! I'm not usually interested in these limted edition special sets but I must admit to being sorely tempted. Can't wait to see the Inception again as it's one of my favourite films for years.

Looks like the fanciest Special Edition in a good while. While I liked the movie I'm not one of its fanatical fans so I'll be skipping this one, but I'll probably go for the regular edition.

Well, I pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.co.uk just in case the US release is not all that great.

I'll cancel my UK order if and when a kick-ass US release is issued. But for now, it's kind of nice to have my spot in line.
