Rocky Movies Available Separately on Blu-ray

Posted September 20, 2010 05:46 AM by Juan Calonge

MGMOn October 5, MGM Home Entertainment will release Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV and Rocky V on separate Blu-ray editions. Until now, the second to fifth installments in the Rocky series were only available as part of Rocky: The Undisputed Collection.

Additionally, Rocky, which was already available, will be re-released with matching cover art. Rocky Balboa, on the other hand, will not be re-released.

Technical specifications and special features are unchanged. A DVD copy of each movie will also be included.

It's really sad that this beloved franchise got such a piss poor release. Lionsgate did a nice job with the Rambo series with good transfers, audio and decent extra material. I'm surprised Stallone did not do much with these films. Oh well at least they came out on blu.

I already got the collection edition. Plus, they won't do a new transfer, so no loss for me

I bought the collection about 2 months ago, and I have no major problems with it. My only complaint is the lack of features for the middle installments (seriously, stallone loves talking about his films, record a friggin commentary!)

I Prefer that all 6 films be in one case, it makes it feel more like a collection, I'll pass on any new releases untill we get something new

There'll be a new collector's box-set following the release of "Rocky vs. Predator".

My, what lovely "cover-art" on part II there.

Wil todays technology I think they should do a Rocky Vs Rambo. Maybe even have the Expendables on the hunt for their love child Ramby...or would that be Rockbo?

Man, Sly was fat in Rocky II...

@Wdm81: I agree, The Expendables looking for Rambo would be amazing!

First, the artwork looks bad, and unless they include new features (unlikely), it won't be a selling point for me to double dip.

@audioquest - I hope your joking, cause Stallone was ripped like a god in rocky's 2 to 4. I remember hearing he had his Body fat percentage down to under 10 percent for Rocky 3

He still never looked as good as Carl Weathers did in Rocky 2 though

Great news. Now I can slowly start buying them each in the respectable price range.

I wonder if they will change the disc art on the first Rocky to match Rocky II thru V as well.
