Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced The Expendables for Blu-ray release on November 23, in a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. For this film in the vein of the action movies of the 1980s and early 1990s, director/co-writer/star Sylvester Stallone gathered a remarkable cast including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Mickey Rourke as a group of mercenaries with the mission of overthrowing a Latin American dictator.
Special features include:
The Expendables: Ultimate Recon Mode: in-movie BonusView where Stallone and the other Expendables provide a multi-layered, all-access look at the making of the film as it runs (BD-exclusive)
Stallone announced on Twitter that he will be releasing a director's cut. I think they just finished it like a week ago. So just be warned if you don't want to double dip.
$27.99?! Ummm, I'm sure that will (or should!) go down a bit. Also, I agree with "Aussie Blu" - As this is from Lions Gate, give us a 7.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack...!!
I can remember reading that Stallone wanted both the TC and the DC on the same edition, guess that didn't materialize. Perhaps I should wait until the DC is released then...
Yes! Hearing this news just made my day. Been looking forward to it coming to blu since the moment it was over when I saw it in theaters. Definitely should give the surround sound a good workout that's for sure!
I really enjoyed this film but I have so many films on my wishlist I hesitate to double dip on anything. If there isn't a director's cut, might cancel my pre-order and wait
This movie was really, really bad. I know that's sorta the point. However, when your movie consists of one cliche after another it ceases to be campy fun and starts to be just a bad movie. I don't say this to be a contrarian jackass, but to let the potential blind buyers know they may want to rent this movie first.
