Thanks mace_freley, I'm ready to rejoice I can't wait to own this movie on Bluray. of all the Asian movies I've watched this is the one i've wanted the most. I don't even care which edition I get as long as I get battle Royale in 1080p HD.
I don't like this at all. I pre-ordered this at instant when this was announced a week ago. I ordered it from Amazon.co.uk because the version sale there was suppose to be the Limited Edition. Now all of a sudden Arrow Films are selling it for the price of £29.99. Amazon.co.uk states the price as £14.99. That's quite a difference there. Sure Amazon also says that it's only the Special Edition but it has the very same release date.
based upon what other sites have said, this is the limited edition version or from what I have been able to gather
for under 30 dollars for this shipped to america is a very good price if it is indeed the limited version
scatterb - Amazon may be selling it for £14.99 but they do have the RRP listed as £29.99. I think the point here is the first 5000 pressed will have the extra Limited Edition exclusive stuff but then it will revert to the regular edition.
"Region Free" means just that - it should play fine on your PS3 if you're in the States. The only thing that wouldn't play is if any of the extra features are in standard resolution - and that's because they're PAL, not because of the region encoding.
Great news about it being region free! I have the U.K. tin (with the film cut), but that's the extended cut - which isn't nearly as good as the original.
Really, though, the marketing on this rates an F+ for causing mass confusion among consumers. Why don't they just do what Warners Archive does when they have a limited edition - list it separately, and when it sells out it sells out - at least people ordering it know what they're getting. This way you have the potential of disappointing people who have blindly ordered the thing, and end up getting the SE instead of the LE. Why do that to consumers, when you don't have to? For that matter, why bother selling it on your own website at full list price when it's selling at amazon.co.uk for nearly half the price (assuming it's even the same thing) -- and if it's NOT the same thing, why not be clear and upfront with consumers as to exactly what you're selling and what they can expect to get?
As for the chick on the TV... well, I'm not sure how much better she'll look, because she only appears on the (lo-res) TV screen, if I remember correctly :-) :-).
I will repeat, staff at the cultlabs forums (linked directly to the BR Bluray producer Arrow Films) said that the special editions are set for a February release. So no matter where you order it, it will be the Limited edition!!!
Check out the BR forum thread in the UK section and/or check out the cultlabs forum
very cool. I pre-ordered it from amazon.co.uk for £14.99 since its cheaper there. I also picked up Inferno on blu-ray (also from arrow video and priced at £14.99), and when i got the last checkout screen, the prices for both had changed to about £12.75 each.
Apparently if you group them together you save £4.5 on the total order. Thats a little over 7 bucks! It basically covers your cost for shipping.
Arrow Vid on FB: "Retailers are listing our Battle Royale Limited Edition as Special Edition - have no fear this IS the Limited Edition and retailers are changing the title very soon!"
however I'd like a clear answer
I also ordered immediately
already ordered it would be nice if it comes in the limited Edition but if its tons and tons better than the Korean import I have then I don't care. Just need to finish the novels and start on the Ultimate Editions (volumes 1-5) of the manga=)
