Trioxin, how did you get the additional Gold Box discount of $3.52 on the two items? Just tried putting both items in my cart and total came to $65.48. Still an excellent price for 2 titles, but if I can get the additional discount I would like to.

Well, I don't know if this will help, but what I did was click first on Alien, putting it in my cart with the goldbox price. Then I went back to the goldbox and clicked on Mohicans, adding it to my cart. Then I noticed that the price was hovering around $66ish, and I figured amazon was canceling out my goldbox because I was using multiple promotions or something. But I saw that someone else got it for $61 and thought I'd see what happens if I just go through the motions of actually placing my order to see if the price changed before I actually placed the order. Voila, it dropped down.
Hey Jasonicus, PEgLeG, and Ordells_Pappy, every Amazon user gets different items in their Goldbox each day, it's really lucky that PEgLeG and Trioxin had "Alien Anthology" in their Goldbox today, but not everyone will have the Alien set in their gold box today or any day this week. The Goldbox items change everyday, so you could get it there tomorrow; keep checking! Goldbox is a random selection of some Amazon items that Amazon thinks you might want to purchase. I already had Alien Anthology in my gold box a couple of weeks ago but the price was still high with the Gold box extra 5% off. I hope this helps, either way the $65 is a pretty decent price for this!
Interesting. I placed the order. Didn't get the extra discount. Canceled it and went through the Gold Box to reorder. Still didn't get it. On the other hand, Mohicans doesn't show up in the Gold Box so maybe that's the reason. I'm happy with the Alien Anthology and Last of the Mohicans for $65 since $50 was pretty much my price point for the Alien box and Mohicans was on my list as well. I certainly won't grouse over $4.
Never seen LotM, but I love every film I have ever seen Danial Day-Lewis in, and getting it basically for free while knocking another five bucks off of the Alien set kicks ass!
You can order this from Amazon Uk and have it shipped for example, to California, for only $55.00 all in. This boxset has been grossly overpriced in the U.S. and has been selling for 30-50% cheaper all over the world. UK release is completely region-free (main films, extras etc).

I'll pick up this set this week, definitely. Even though I already have the last of the mohicans, the price for the combined titles is still better than what I would pay for the alien anthology alone. in this case, the last of the mohicans would be a virtual freebie. Then I can sell the second copy of mohicans. I'm glad I waited.
He or her....... very right... most of the titles are very, very much cheaper on Amazon UK. Even after the shipping to CA. And they have nice special box set than over here in the USA. 80% of the titles on Amazon UK are region free too and no-one will have issues. But said that there are some titles cheaper over here than the Amazon UK too. But only very few... most of them are cheaper than here. I live in both countries therefore I order certain titles from UK while I am here in the USA and I send them to my UK address and will not pay any shipping.
$70.00 is still not that good of a deal. "Alien Anthology" is available at AmazonUK for $50.00 (U.S.) and is region free...and for those willing to wait it will priced even lower on Black Friday. It's pretty pathetic when Amazon.com hikes up there MSRP price to make it look as if you're saving a lot of money--what a joke!!
Don't be so sure that it will be priced much lower on Black Friday. I will say that this is about as low as it will go. 65 bucks is pretty darn good. Amazon has said that 2700 or so titles will be, at most, 70% off. That would put the Alien Anthology to a mere 42 dollars, but I have my doubts that it will even drop below 60 dollars.
It ends up that I'm getting the Anthology for 67% off msrp and Mohicans for 58% off. Now I know I paid a few $ less because of my particular goldbox deal, but I would imagine everyone else is still getting at least 63% off of Alien and 57% off of Mohicans. Do the people who think this price is too high actually think the Alien Anthology is going to go on sale for less than 37% of the msrp on BF?

Received both Mohicans and Alien in the mail today. Returned Mohicans at my local Best Buy for $21.19 in store credit. Essentially paid $44.29 for Anthology.
