Amazon is kicking off "Cyber Monday" with an early-bird Lightning Deal, comprised of three Blu-ray titles: Dollhouse: Season One for $9.99 (86% off MSRP); Home Alone Collection for $14.99 (63% off MSRP); and Alice (2009 Miniseries) for $7.99. This deal expires at 8:40 a.m. PST, or when stock runs out.
Luckily I got the Home Alone Collection in my cart in time and paid for but I do find it quite odd that it would sell out in a matter of seconds. That is ridiculous.
if I look with the "Collections" feature of the Home Alone Collection on blu-ray.com, 17 members have this title in the "Ordered" section none of these where there yesterday... so I'm assuming 17 members of blu-ray.com got their copies from this deal... and probably more, since not everyone updates their collection instantly...
I picked up the Home Alone collection. I ordered it the second it went live at 8:40 am pst. It did not appear to immediately sell out for me as I watched it slowly fill up to 100% claimed and it took 12 minutes by the time listed on Amazon. Maybe they reserve a certain number of copies for different geographical areas? Not sure how Amazon is doing their lightning deals this year.
Yeah, it seemed to take forever to see if I got it; then I got the 15 min countdown for my cart. When I went back to look at the page, all had been claimed.
Can you put the movie in your cart prior to the time start and checkout after and get the price? Might that be how items are being claimed so fast? Or do you have to add to cart after the start time?
How do you see what % is claimed?
I got left out in the cold on this one...maybe next year they can update their lightning deal page with %'s here:
complete bs! they still have more units...at 10 bucks more! they need to have more on hand for the cyber monday deals! The price will never get this low again!!!
Yeah, Amazon sucks when it comes to the quantity of some of these lightning deals. I don't know how many they put up for sale, but it's not many. Too bad every lightning deal doesn't have a minimum quantity of 5,000 (or whatever) available. I thought there'd be a run on "Dollhouse" (cult fave), so I got that one first. When I tried to do "Home Alone" I was waitlisted. I got in on "BTTF," but lots of people didn't. It's too much like a radion station call-in contest. They should either have a minimum quantity or a minimum time during which they'll honor that price (even if the item is backordered).
I love Costco, but finding movies/tv shows in stock at specific Costco wharehouses is completely unpredictable. It may work if you're lucky enough to live where there are a bunch of wharehouses nearby (Chicago has 13 or 14), but there's only 1 in my state (250 miles away). The one I hit is 115 miles away, and it's 1 of only 2 in WI.
I got Dollhouse and Alice. Alice was 100% claimed within 5 minutes, Dollhouse only made it to like 70 something I think. I was surprised Alice sold so many to be honest. maybe they didn't have as many?
