PioneerPioneer Electronics has launched its line of Blu-ray players compatible with the Blu-ray 3D specification, under model numbers BDP-430, BDP-41FD and BDP-43FD (the latter two within the Elite product line). All three support HDMI 1.4a, 1080p/24 video playback, online video streaming and wireless functionality with an optional adapter. The Elite models add RS-232C connections, and the highest end BDP-43FD model features "armored chassis build quality."

List price is $299 for the BDP-430, $399 for the Pioneer Elite BDP-41FD and $499 for the BDP-43FD.

The 430 is probably for me because I bought the pioneer 1120 when it came out which is a 3d ready receiver. I would probably buy a 3d TV in the future but not now.

Interesting that even Pioneer is this far "behind" Sony and Panasonic in getting 3D BD players to market. Panasonic is into their second gen 3D BD players already.

Sadly these players are Pioneer in name only - they're actually made by Sharp.

I bought a 31fd when it came out and returned it two weeks later. The new elite players aren't so elite anymore. I think the 23fd was the last quality player we will see from pioneer

Trouble? Since when? Your first comment was a single LOONNNGGG sentence without the proper punctuations. I was trying to be funny thats all and now youre talking about Sony? Thats your personal opinion about Sony. Just because my ID name has Sony name on it doesnt mean I can post on Sony products! I can post whatever I want to whenever I want to. You have no control of anyone!

btw, Pioneer sadly made the best Plasma TVs out there!

Quote: "You are ignorant like most sony fans. Sony is just like Bose speakers they make poor quality products and people like you think they are good becuase they advertise a lot unlike high quality companies like Denon and Pioneer".

Oh dear. Looks like we have the start of a flamewar here. Run for cover everyone...

He started it with me alehel I have been wanting for months for pioneer elite to finally put out a 3d blu-ray player. I love there players becuase you have 13 different picture adjustment setting and so many other cool features to many to list here. Plus I recentlyPurchased the sc-37 receiver. I check blu ray.com news everyday looking to see something about thease players. Yes when I saw something I was very excited and didn't use the best Grammar at all. But what really fired me up was that fact that a sony fan had to comment just to insult me

@bluraysonyes: While poor writing in forums and blogs bothers me also, before you cast stones, learn how to punctuate yourself. "Punctuations" at the end of your first sentence should be singular. There should be a comma after 'funny' and 'thats' (that's) should have an apostrophe as should 'youre' ("you're talking") and doesnt (doesn't).

@mirage29: There's nothing wrong at all with the Sony ES line. Sony does also put out junk but that's because they probably have the largest product line of anyone except perhaps for Panasonic, so they have equipment at every possible price point.

The fact is that most of these companies don't produce very good products anymore. Many are part of the same conglomerates and most of the manufacturing is done in China by third parties. For example, Denon, Marantz, McIntosh, Boston, Snell and Escient are all part of D&M Holdings. Harmon Kardon, JBL, Mark Levinson, Infinity, AKG, BSS, Crown and some other pro sound companies are all part of Harmon Industries. AR, Audiovox, RCA, Jensen, Advent and Terk are all part of Audiovox. This is a far cry from the days when the CEO of hi-fi companies tended to be the chief designer, components from different companies each had their own sound and the designers were as well known to audio people as fashion designers are to fashionistas - audio designers like Saul Marantz, Edgar Vilchur, Henry Kloss, Avery Fisher, HH Scott, etc.

@ pootystomp:

I have a Pioneer BDP-320, which is basically the 23fd, and I couldn't be happier with this player. So, add the BDP-320 to the list of "last quality player[s] we will see from Pioneer".

Thanks for the information ZoetMB I was aware that D&M holding ownded Denon and Marantz. But I had no idea that harmon Kardon, JBL were owned by the same company. It is also the same way with speaker companies Mirage Speakers, Athena, Jamo, Energy and Klipsch are all owned by Klipsch group Inc

Whoa...this dude seriously needs help. I have nothing against Pioneer at all and I never said anything negative about Pioneer to begin with! At the same time I'm being lectured by this idiot about Pioneer is better than Sony? I apologized in advance to anyone if I was trying to be funny in the first place. There's nothing wrong if I happen to have a sense of humor here. If Mirage29 is highly against Sony why do you currently own a Sony BD player? Who cares if my ID name says Sony. Seems like youre only allowing me to say things about Sony and not on other brands. You have no control of anyone here and never will. I strongly believe youre being the ignorant here. Youre taking this matter too far my friend.

@Pondosinatra
Are you sure these are made by Sharp? I know that last years models were and I know about the Sharp/Pioneer relationship. Just looking to see if anyone has actually confirmed that.

@Mirage29
Are you sure these players have "13 different picture adjustment setting", I did not see that listed on the feature set.

At any rate these players look improved over last years having 3D capability, netflix, pandora, youtube, and network streaming from the PC.

My complaints are basically that for $500 at the top end you are missing a lot compared to the new Oppo. I don't understand how a huge company like Pioneer can allow this. I mean to me if you had to choose between an identical feature set at the same price, people would most like choose Pioneer because they are well known, and the customer service is probably better. Why at this point can't someone, be it Sony, Pioneer, Denon or any other audio brand do that? It's sad when the companies that were once innovators are now just also rans

I currenlty own a sony player because it's 3D and was given to me as a gift.I am waiting for pioneer to finally put out a 3D player. Bluraysonyes I was joking with you as well. I am very anti sony and anti bose they are two companies that I hate. When I saw your name I knew it was time to have some fun. I am new to blu ray.com and thanks to people like you I love it here. Hope you have a great new year

Just my .02 cents
