It was neck and neck for the top-selling Blu-ray spot in the week ended January 2, but in the end Inception, now in its fourth week in stores, narrowly beat newcomer Resident Evil: Afterlife in the charts. Sony's horror/action/sci-fi movie got 44% of its total disc sales from the BD release, a record for a title not bundled with a DVD copy.
Great news for Inception, and good news for Blu-ray that people didn't mind shelling out a few more bucks for a Blu-ray release not bundled with a DVD or Digital copy.
Wow! Just one Blu that came out last week made into the top 10 this week; still impressive showing for Resident Evil: Afterlife with 44% of sales from Blu. Good to see Inception continuing to do well! I have to say, it's a good list of top 10 movies! I own all of them!

They should be paying a few bucks LESS to not get the DVD/Digital Copy.
Haven't watched Inception yet on Blu-Ray but still impressive it beat Resident Evil, even with some retailers breaking it out after Christmas day; Sunday. Next week hopefully Resident Evil will have steady sales, it's such an amazing film!!! I can't stop watching it!
It would have sold even more if the 3d blu was available here in Canada , but I guess they just don't want to sell it here . Funny not even a release date here .
I saw RE:A in theaters and bought it on release day. I rented inception yesterday but had to turn it off half way through because it was much too boring.
The 3 recent new releases being sold currently for $12.99 everywhere (A-Team, Expendables and Other Guys) all saw huge jumps. Maybe studios should do that more often.
I feel odd that I have got Resident Evil After Life and The Red Shoes the same week. Yet didn't got my copy of Inception (Not even in the mood of watching it); I watched it theatrically though.
I'll say it again, Inception was a damn good movie but it sure as sh!t wasn't great. That being said though I will say it was one of the top three movies I saw last year without a doubt. Granted, there wasn't much good coming out last year but still, a unique movie with an original story that was neither a reboot or a remake, give Nolan credit for that above all else. Good to see it doing well.
It isn't a big surprise to me that Inception is still number 1 it's such a great movie. I am glad to see that RE: Afterlife was able to get 44% penetration on Blu ray even though it didn't include DVD.
Just curious how much Resident Evil afterlife sales were hurt by amazon not having it available last week. I know I ordered my copy and amazon had not received their copies to shipped.
