The Blu-ray release of Steven Spielberg's A.I. Artificial Intelligence, initially slated for February 15 but later delayed to April 12 (see Blu-ray.com, December 6, 2010 and January 6, 2011), will finally hit store shelves a week earlier than the revised date – in other words, on April 5. Technical specifications and special features are unchanged.
Looking forward to this, and as others have said, I hope the UK release follows. I really don't think it's a bad film by any accounts, but people are quite welcome to have their own views and opinions.
I thought it was going to be delayed again. Glad it will be out a week earlier in April, which is becoming a really good month for catalog films-- A.I., Taxi Driver (I hope), Criterion releases of Blow Out and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Can't wait!
I'm glad it wasn't delayed till the summer. I really would've been pissed off about that. Even though I still hate waiting till April, at least I can live with A.I. coming out a week earlier than originally expected.
This movie was ok and had even bigger potential bit the contstant whining "I wanna be a real boy" got on my nerves by the middle of the movie. Love Spielberg but I'm gonna have to pass on this one. Bring on JP, Jaws.
That Haley Joel Osmand (or whatever his name is) robot laugh really grinded my nerves like Quints fingernails in Jaws. Can't we just hire Quint to go out and kill the robot boy?
I remember being blown away by the visuals on DVD. The last scenes of the film are some of the coolest visual concepts I've seen in a while. So this is really going to be a bute on Blu.
@Dustin, AI is nowhere near Spailberg's best film. Jaws, ET, Schindler's list, Saving Private Ryan, and Raiders of the Lost Ark are all superior films in every aspect. And those are just the ones of the top of my head.
AI is average at best. The movie is two jumbled up. Personally I think Kubrik is overrated like David Lynch.
This movie is one of my all time favorites. It is the type of movie that you get-into deeply. Good story, good acting and the special effects are great. Can't wait to check it out on da blu disc!
I'm glad they are releasing it sooner rather then later.
I already got Blu-ray's A. I. ! I imported it from Japan! and release date was December 18 2010! and it was very cheap! about $15!!! Shipping is expensive, but you can get it next day!!! Picture quality is OK but dts sound is really good! and special features are good too, I saw 2 special trailers and I couldn't watch it from DVD edition. If you can't wait, try this!!! :-D
Only reason I've held off buying this locally (Hong Kong) is that I have been hoping for a SteelBook™ using the Black/ Silver poster art. Looks like that's not gonna happen now. Pity, this would have looked the bomb in SteelBook™.
I have a copy of the French release and it looks identical to the Japanese release, so my guess is it will be the same pressing when released in the US....hopefully.
