Now it's official. Already pre-ordered!

Too bad Legacy only includes a music video and not a music only high res track of the entire score. Daft Punk's outstanding soundtrack is definitely worthy. Oh, and no official announcement for the Limited Ed version of TL&T?

Have the two movie pack preordered. Hopefully the preorder price goes down with the 5 dollars off.

$50 for the two pack isn't so bad and it's bound to drop more in the next two months.

I'm in for both films. I'd rather have them in separate cases, but I will have to see what the better deal is as we get closer to release.

Ugh, Disney really is going with that crappy cover for the original? So glad the disc content is whats important over the cover. still seems like shoddy work.

I personally LOVE Disney's immediate offering of the the 3D multi-packs. Saves me from buying it again in 3D. The bonus would be that there are far less people complaining about this on forums rather than those that would complain about the double-dip...

What? I thought the 5-disc version would have the 3D + both Trons in blu-ray + both Trons in DVD standard format and that the digital copy would be on the standard DVDs. I must have really missed something. Having Tron Classic on standard DVD is much better than a digital copy of Tron Legacy imho. I'd love to have the original Tron for use where there is not a blu-ray player such as portable DVD players (think: kids), vehicle built-in DVD player (kids again), laptop (sorry, it doesn't have blu-ray), etc. Golly gee whiz Disney...throw me a bone. I'll have to check my pre-order on AMZN.

Dotbalm, so right. I was eagerly anticipating the 5 disc version but I two wanted DVDs of both rather than a digital copy of Tron Legacy. I guess I will order them separately. I like DVD copies not to watch myself but I loan them to friends who don't have Blu-rays. Oh and I throw them in my computer and I take screenshots to turn into wallpaper sometimes.

I also wish the two movie pack would have just been a nice small box that the separate cases for Tron Legacy 3D and Tron The Original slide in and out of

Yeah, i'm a display whore and i just know they'll probably make a three. I don't want one and two displayed overhead and then have three sitting down amongst the rest of my blu rays. Plus, I don't have a 3D TV (and never will). So, the choice is clear, individual releases of one and two. Oh, and, way to drop the ball on cover art Disney, for both.

Saw TRON: Legacy 3D in theaters, the story is ok, but the video combined with the audio is where it really shines. I will be surprised if it doesn't get +50% of sales from Blu-ray.

The original for me, and as far as Tron Legacy goes, I might get the regular Blu-ray/DVD edition, but I already know that there's gonna be a $10 off coupon for the 3D combo pack, so I might get that one. But I don't know at the moment.

I am most curious about "The Next Day: Flynn Lives Revealed (BD-exclusive)" To me that sounds like a title of what the Tron 3 trailer leak described: Quorra the next day at Encom, Ram in his Flynn Lives office with Alan. . . .

I'm surprised at some of the reactions to the cover art. It's far from being that good, but Disney always has bad covers. Seriously, that Lion King cover.....I saw a fanart that was waaayyyy better and that was simply a photoshop job. And the overseas DVD for Bambi looks much more appealing than that BD cover art.

anbd the 3D coupon might work on the normal combo pack.

@tat015: There are no "IMAX scenes"...the IMAX version of the film was a blowup.

DVDave
 - Feb 12, 2011

Kosinski said in an interview he wanted isolated music tracks and Disney said no because it infringed on the album sales. It's bad enough half the tracks are scattered all over the web and around the globe as exclusives that we can't get them all in one place in sequential arrangement from the film plus the unreleased cues. Tron Legacy: Reconfigured is a remix album of Daft Punk's score and is getting released the same day as the Blu-ray/DVD.

@Verbal: You're right in saying there were no IMAX scenes, but the scenes shown on IMAX weren't mere blowups. They were shot and framed in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Those scenes were cropped to 2.4:1 in the non-IMAX presentations.

actually if you read the new issue of American Cinematographer - the movie was shot in 2.35:1, the idea and opening the image for the IMAX engagements was more of an after thought.

Definitely want both movies on BD and DVD, plus Daft Punk's awesome score separately. The score really made the movie, IMHO. The Identity Disc Ultimate Edition might be cool, but looks like it'd require some partial double dipping for completists.

I am not sure which one I want to get. I was thining about the Limited Edition one, but it has one Blu-ray dics of the first Tron movie. When I went to Amazon and sawthe first Tron movie that is coming to Blu-ray it looks like it will be a 2 Disc Blu-ray and 1 Disc Dvd.

Paulo Elias

I am glad that Disney decided to separate both films. Tron is innovative and interesting whereas the new Tron is noisy and lacks any contribution to the original feature. It has the same "how was I in the beginning" of other Hollywood flickers, and in the end the screen play uses the same lines and situations of the previous film. In other word a waste of time. I was ready to pre-order the combo but now I am happy that I didn't!

I'm with Paulo Elias -- I was afraid Disney would only sell the two films together, and am very glad to be able to pick up the original film without needing to buy the sequel, which I have no particular desire to revisit.

Agreed with Marcuslaw. Boo on the lack of hi-res score, but will pick up combo. Cannot wait to demo the audio. In fact, this will be my one exception to the thing I'll be giving up for Lent: buying Blu-Rays. Best to pre-order before Ash Wednesday comes!

NightAvatar
 - Feb 14, 2011

Consider me entirely underwhelmed! I already own the Tron DVD and it doesn't look like they added anything to the Blu-Ray. And Legacy has very little of interest (aside from the "making of" stuff) - no commentary tracks, no sneak peek at Tron 3 (which was hinted by various bloggers), etc.

I was considering the 5-disk awesome pack but might just settle for the single disk version - and only if the reviews here are good (for the A+V quality, not the movie which I've already seen).

I am only interested in the original but considering the prices of Disney Blu-ray here in Canada $30+ I will probably not get it. They don't drop in prices at all or at least not below $20 where I would pick this up.

Great news but i can't help feeling that Tron won't get the top of the line restored transfer it deserves; i sincerely hope i am wrong, but methinks it will be a DVD upscale. I am in for the 2D Legacy / Tron double pack but if Tron has a nice digipack outer sleeve i may get that.

BTW; it doesn't surprise me that Tron Legacy was not a huge box office hit...we really are into an era of home cinema now...Disney are trying to maximize this.
