Twentieth Century Fox has announced Arthur and the Invisibles 2 & 3: The New Minimoy Adventures for Blu-ray release on March 22. In these two part-live action, part-animated films, directed by Luc Besson, Freddie Highmore returns to the role he played in the 2006 Arthur and the Invisibles (Arthur et les Minimoys).
According to the press release, this two-movie set will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart, but strangely Amazon also has it up for preorder.
The first movie was released by TWC thru their Genius Products deal, so I doubt Fox can help us there. Who would reissue it on BD? TWC thru Anchor Bay? Whoever took over Genius Products?
Freddie Highmore may have returned, but IIRC Madonna in the original was replaced by Selena Gomez in 2 & 3. (But then, the character seemed closer to Gomez's age anyway.)
I had been waiting for them to make the sequel to this movie for awhile...Didn't realize they had made two more movies already! I'll still pick these up on release day but hopefully they do put the first one on Blu Ray soon...
Beware, reviews for the second instalment have been quiet awful here in France, and not better elsewhere according to IMDB : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0940657/
I wouldn't go about throwing away that French release in favour of a US one; those which have English as an alternative language have the full English version of the film with about 10 minutes of material considered, admittedly quite understandably, objectionable for American and British family audiences (though common for French, Belgian and Japanese etc. comics popular with the 10–12ish readership from what I've read of them).
I too had been wandering if he two sequals would ever get released, did these see theatrical releases anywhere? I will get them at release even if it means buying via Walmart.
