The Rock, Con Air, and Crimson Tide Re-dated

Posted October 17, 2007 08:25 PM by Josh Dreuth

Walt Disney PicturesBuena Vista Home Entertainment has announced that they have finally rescheduled a trio of action flicks which were postponed earlier this year. The Rock and Con Air will get a Blu-ray release on January 8th, followed the next month by Crimson Tide. No specs have been announced at this time, but expect the usual Disney treatment of AVC video and PCM audio.

Con Air is one of my favorite movies. Satire masked as bombast is one of my favorite things ever, and Con Air is practically subversive in this regard.

Crimson Tide for me. The others, probably not, unless I can get them on a BOGO. Man, I'm spoiled now...

Could there be any better news in the entire world at this very moment? I submit that there is not!!! wow! This turned my shitty, piss poor day into a good day! What a great day for this world. Buena Vista is the shit for doing this! I will be picking up all three titles!!

The Rock, Con Air & Crimson Tide have been out in Austraila for a couple of months and have 1080p
2.35 with PCM 5.1 audio
So you should expect the same. The PQ on The Rock is great.
May the Blu be with you...

This all sounds like another attempt to drain my bank account. Con Air and Rock are same day buys along with Twister. I will decide when the time comes as to whether I grab Crimson Tide.

Someone asked whose in The Rock; Sean Connery, Nicholas cage, Ed Harris. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson, directed by Michael Bay.
This truly ROCKS. I will probably get all 3 of these.

i'd rather the Rock come from Criterion, as their version on DVD is spectacular.

but... i know i'll end up buying it regardless.

For those who like their cinema loud, fast-paced, and flashy these three should provide quite a treat. Suffice to say even Criterion let their guard down and succumbed to The Rock.

A big Q1 action boost!

Ciao,

Con air and The Rock oh yes, they are great movies, but Twister, I dont care how good the picture quality is, no way am I buying that load of rubbish, terrible acting, poor story, not even the CGI on blu-ray can save that cock-up,

Very happy to hear about The Rock. We tried to watch it a month or so ago and I was very disappointed that the DVD was not anamorphic WS. I turned it off since I couldn't stand trying to look at that tiny picture. Con Air is cool too.
