Double Feature Miramax Blu-ray Wave from Echo Bridge

Posted March 28, 2011 02:16 AM by Juan Calonge

Echo Bridge Home EntertainmentEcho Bridge Entertainment isn't slowing down its pace of Blu-ray releases from the Miramax/Dimension catalog. The latest wave is, according to retailer information, coming out on May 15 and entirely composed of double features: Children Of The Corn V: Fields Of Terror / Children Of The Corn 666: Isacc's Return, From Dusk Till Dawn / From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers / Halloween: H20, Hellraiser IV: Bloodline / Hellraiser V: Inferno, My Boss's Daughter / Duplex, Pokemon Heroes / Pokemon: Destiny Deoxys, Supercop / Twin Dragons and The Yards / The Lookout.

Note that several of the titles included in those double features are also coming out days earlier, in individual Blu-ray releases: From Dusk Till Dawn, Halloween H2O, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Hellraiser: Bloodline, Supercop and The Yards.

Additionally, The Lookout had been released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment in 2007.

This is starting to worry me. I wish thet had put From Dusk Till Dawn 2 and 3 together on one disc, not 1 and 2. The first one should be getting royal treatment and it's looking bad.

Cool to see them pumping out some titles.

I'm sure they're not one disc, as it's easier to just package the separate releases together. I'm just really excited for Halloween 6&7! )))

About damn time dusk til dawn comes out, I have desperado, once upon a time in Mexico, and finally this one comes out. My son is 15, and these Salma Hayek movies have been assisting his puberty stage quite well! Keep up the good job blu ray...

I have a feeling that all of these echo bridge titles will come out with poor picture and audio quality, taking other Echo Bridge releases into account.

I have a gut feeling that these are all going to be on one disc. Poor H20...that movie cannot get a decent release on DVD or Blu-Ray...

So we're getting Children of the corn parts 3, 5 and 6 but not part 4? Seriously!? That's the only one I actually want! : / lol oh well.....

REALLY sucks that they are treating From Dusk Till Dawn like Megashark vs. Giant Octopus! I guess Full Tilt Boogie is gone! And FDTD 2 sucks ass! FDTD3 is the good sequel. I'll probably finally get around to purchasing the Alliance release now.

Very glad to see all those Herllraisers coming out. They'd better do justice to the transfers and give us LOSSLESS AUDIO....though I highly doubt they will. Generally Echo Bridge will either give DVD-quality 5.1 or 2.0 LPCM. Neither of which is desireable.

I am happy with the Alliance Halloween triple pack I have, 6,7,8, so unless the extras and quality are a HUGE improvement, no double dip for me.

wait, Amazon had them all listed as two-disc sets. So I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about them being on the same disc, aka- quality being bad, at least for the space reason.

I wouldn't trust Amazon for correct information. They also had Ernest Goes to Camp/ Ernest Goes to Jail as a 2 Disk set originally, this is a 1 disk set. I don't see why anyone would assume anything then the worst for these releases. Their goal is not to make them amazing by spending all this money to restore or to add special features or bump up the transfer, their goal is to make money. The way to accomplish this goal is going bare bones, slim pickens on everything and putting out a release at a very cheap price and then re-releasing it if the sales did well

Thank you for telling me about the Halloween triple feature at amazon.ca! I'll definitely pick that up. I just checked and all 3 films have DTS HD MA! And it's only $21! Signed, sealed, delivered!

Ugh, Echo Bridge. I guess they couldn't get a decent distributor for their movies.

OK what I have to say could be bad news. I just picked up Children of the Corn 2 and 3 double feature on DVD at Walmart for $5. Now 2 is definitely not coming out on BD because it is a full-frame transfer on the DVD, a bad one too. Children 3 is a rather crappy looking widescreen transfer so don't expect much from that BD. Also they are both squeezed to fit on a single layer disc and have compression issues galore. Anyway I also saw From Dusk Til Dawn (the new Echo Bridge DVD) in the $5 bin. It does however have Full Tilt Boogie on it, probably squeezed on a single layer disc. So if there is a single disc version of FDTD we may get an SD version of Full Tilt with it. However I am not expecting any better level of quality from these than what was expected. Hopefully an HD transfer will at least look better. I'm thinking FDTD will be the same master as the Alliance version. Thank god Lionsgate got the higher profile titles. At least those will be acceptable. Just thought some of you would be interested in this.

I would avoid these issuings all together. I work for a retailer that received their copies this morning and all of the titles are barebones, 2.0 stereo audio and their almost all, if not all, the wrong aspect ratio---they're all 1:78:1. Seek out the Alliance pressings if you can.

Who knows if these titles will ever have a proper release...For the PP might as well pick them up $9.99 or $13.99 is what it is, they have to be better then the dvd. I don't see them making us double dip in a year and putting all this work into the titles, especially if nobody buys these titles and holds out. What would their reasoning be to put out a better release if they can't even sell these crappy releases for 10-15 dollars.
