MGM Home Entertainment has made available clips from the upcoming Blu-ray of Fiddler
on the Roof, which hit stores shelves on April 5, in a 40th-anniversary edition
now with a 7.1 audio track.

I hope that the picture quality is better than what is being displayed in the film clips above. I'll still get it, because I love Fiddler... but there is room for improvement.
Fiddler came to my town about 10 years ago. Topol was doing it so I thought it'd be my last chance to see the great Topol in the lead. Wow did he phone that performance in. He might as well have been filing his nails on stage. It's a good story though, so it's good to see it coming to Blu-ray.
Clips look good but I'm waiting for the reviews. What I remember from seeing this movie in the theatres was that the images were very soft and not very bright or sharp. What made it work were the songs and the acting. The latter is some of the best I've ever seen in a stage to screen musical. Completely believable characters and totally convincing "sets". I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a superb BD but I do have a few doubts about it.
I love this but it will need to have new bonus features to attract me. I agree with the comment above that much of the film has a soft focus. I expect we will simply get a nice clean version with the intended soft focus lens work intact. That's great but not enough for me to repurchase without some new incentives. Fingers crossed!
This film will be worth it for the music in DTS-HD MA 7.1. Just make sure the transfer represents what the director intended. If it was shot in soft focus then the PQ should represent that.
excited to see what blockbuster movie MGM will release on bd after this. Since the line of BD fans have been miles long in front of MGM HQ to get this on BD ASAP!.
That was the sarcasm.... how in the hell do mgm think they will make money on this release I will never buy this film not even when they will try to give it to me for free!!!!!!!!!!!!.
alphadec... I would not worry about MGM giving you this BD for free. If you want a high quality film with wonderful music and excellent acting.. you have to pay for it. . . . Which is exactly what I am very happy to do.
Pre ordered this from best buy with both TRON's and Taxi Driver,picked them up today but i didn't get Fiddler on the roof.Best buy said for some reason the are not going to sell it and i looked at WalMart and Target and they said the same thing.....Whats going ON.
