This film very much lived up to my expectations. Quite enjoyable. It's both a science fiction-style action thriller and a romantic drama & comedy. Combining such genres and doing it well so that the story remains cohesive and the characters are well developed, among other issues, is quite difficult to do and director George Nolfi did so quite well. On top of that, it's based on a short story but expanded to feature length without feeling padded; the screenwriters should be commended.
The cover graphic could be better (the theatrical poster is the version I've seen that I prefer — but that's often the case, isn't it? )
I was on the fence and didn't end up seeing it, but I think all these positive remarks may warrant a blind buy. Maybe not Day 1, but I'll keep my eye on this one.
I never had any desire to see this based on the previews ... seems like an earth-based copy of Dark City (which I loved) perhaps with a dash of The Box (which I loathed).
Adjustment Team (the short story on which this film is based) is my favorite Phillip K. Dick story. The film was disappointing (even though it featured Emily Blunt, my favorite actress). It lacked that little extra something to make it a great movie and dragged in places. I won't be watching it again...
