Norwegian director André Řvredal's mockumentary Trollhunter will arrive on Blu-ray this August, courtesy of Magnolia Home Entertainment. Already a cult success in Europe, Trollhunter made its U.S. debut to great acclaim at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The film takes the form of a student film crew's documentary footage; while researching what they think is a series of animal attacks, the crew unwittingly discovers an ancient troll species.
Magnolia has not specified the Blu-ray's technical and supplemental features; check back later for further details.
Trollhunter streets on August 23rd, 2011, and Amazon is already accepting pre-orders for the film at a price of $26.99.
I own this on Blu-Ray (purchased in Norway). It's really not as good as all the hype makes it out to be. I wish it were. There were some great moments but those were surrounded by a lot of boring talky scenes. The action was minimal, though pretty well done when it happened. There were only 4 scenes with trolls that I remember. I recommend renting this before buying. Maybe the fact that it's in a foreign language masks the mediocre acting and semi-bad dialog?
I haven't watched this, even though I'm Norwegian. Maybe I should now, there has to be a reason why it is a "cult success", it's not likely all bad...?
