Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol Trailer (Updated)

Posted October 28, 2011 09:05 AM by Matthew Smith

ParamountParamount and Yahoo Movies have released the second theatrical trailer for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. The fourth entry in the action/adventure series will see the return of Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg alongside franchise newcomers Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire), Léa Seydoux (Robin Hood), Josh Holloway (Lost), Paula Patton (Déjà Vu) and Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton).

Additionally, Brad Bird, best known for helming Pixar's The Incredibles and Ratatouille, will make his live-action directorial debut with Ghost Protocol.

This outing sees the IMF team disbanded after they are blamed for a terrorist bombing of the Kremlin in Moscow. Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team then must work under "Ghost Protocol" with agent Brandt (Renner) to clear their organization's name from the crime.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol will hit theaters this holiday season on December 16th.

I saw the trailer last night. Looks like it's gonna be the best one of the whole series!! Jeremy Renner is gonna be so awesome in it!! And even though Tom Cruise will be just as awesome as Renner, I think it's about time for Cruise to hang it up after this 4th Mission: Impossible film. But other than that, the Fall/Winter movie season is already shaping up to be a big one, and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol looks like the perfect way to end 2011!!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited because it's the director of Iron Giant, Incredibles and Ratatouille. MI is a cartoon anyway... so this is great

Jeremy Renner is an ok actor but I hesitate at him taking over the Bourne and Mission Impossible franchises. Josh Holloway, briefly glimpsed here could do it. I'm surprised we don't see Ving Rhames, though Wikipedia says he's in it. Maybe it's just a couple quick cameos. Too bad they dumped Jonathan Rhys-Myers. Oh, also would have been interesting to bring back Anthony Hopkins for the part that Tom Wilkinson appears to have here.

I did like how they worked in the line 'Your mission, should you choose to accept it...' Oh and nice to see Simon Pegg has a larger role and doesn't appear as goofy as in III.

Well I look forward to seeing this movie.

Looks pretty awesome, and I'm pretty excited to see Josh Holloway in something else besides Lost. I think if he plays his cards right and picks some good movies to be in, he could easily become an A-List actor.

I hope they re-release the blu-rays this time with lossless audio.
Loved the original series, enjoy they one in the 80s, hated when they made Phelps the bad guy but since i'm a sucker for mission impossible i'll probably enjoy this one as well. cant wait.

Tom Cruise. Still making seemingly awesome big budget movies everyone wants to see even though most the world despises him for being a totally psycho self-obsessed Napoleon-complexed Scientology-cult-shilling lunatic nut-job. Bravo.

I know Brad Bird is an awesome director so I'm hoping for the best with this movie.
Although I must say that I'm a bit apprehensive about it looking so good. Maybe it's from working in the theaters for 15 years and learning to see so many trailers that were great and the actual movie(s) to be a let down.
Don't get me wrong though as I hope this movie rocks!!!

100% agreed with FLskydiver. I want to see this movie because of everything OTHER than Tom Cruise. His ridiculous Co$ videos with the MI tune in the background and support of a cult that hurts and has been responsible for many deaths [see Lisa McPherson (36), Heribert Pfaff (31), Josephus Havenith (45), Noah Antrim (22), Stacy Grove Meyer (20), Susan Meister (23), Roberto Deplano (20), Wilhelm Mack (37), Richard Collins (24) and many, many more] is unforgivable.

Wish they'd made this one without him, hopefully people will realize the upcoming box office success is because of amazing effects, the brand name, Bond-like locations and a great supporting cast.

Léa Seydoux is a good actress but Paula Patton can't act for shit. she is hot thought. Hopefully Brad Bird can make a great live-action movie. Wish J.J. would come back and direct another one. Where was Rhames and Holloway in the trailer?
