Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has revealed at Comic-Con today that in addition to the
already announced enhanced port of Tekken Tag Tournament from PS2 in HD, Tekken
Hybrid will receive a playable prologue of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The disc
also has the CG animated movie, Tekken: Blood Vengance.
Tekken: Blood Vengance Trailer
The prologue will feature at least two playable characters in the form of Alisa and Xiaoyu,
but Harada didn't detail which other characters will feature. The disc will also have an HD
port of the old PS2 favourite Tekken Tag Tournament, the game is identical to the PS2
version except that it will harness the power of the PS3 and render in HD natively rather
than upscale.
This game/movie hybrid comes just days after Namco announced another Macross
game/movie hybrid, and it seems to be a growing trend amongst dual purpose franchises
or companies which have interests in games and movies. Sony have been another
company which has shipped game demos with Blu-ray releases the latest of which was
Resistance 3 on the Battle: Los Angeles disc.
Hopefully more franchises will take advantage of this feature for PS3 gamers, but for now
we have no release date available for Tekken Hybrid, we do know, however, that the game contents of the disc will be exclusive to PS3.
Priced at $39.99 right now, hopefully it drops a little...even still that's $20 each for movie/game. I might have to preorder this! Neat idea to combine the two mediums onto 1 disc! I couldn't get the video in this story to play, but did watch the demo on Amazon's page...awesome cgi.
hmm , hard boiled- shame we got a dvd version with stranglehold. Watchman was better- the game and the blu ray. really like the tie in if you have a good movie and a decent game
Bought, hands down. Tekken Tag Tournament is my favourite game of the series and I feel that after it was released, the series went downhill. The original trilogy and TTT were all incredible and the fourth game was horrendous. The CGI film looks pretty sweet, too!
I wonder if this still includes the 3D version of the movie as well? All the early reports had '3D' after the name, but the last two reports I've seen (including this one) seem to have dropped that specification, at least from the description. Hopefully they release some specs soon.
edit: I see the trailer at least says 3D now. 3D logo on the packaging too. Woo!
I'm a huge Tekken fan who misses the ability to tag it up on my ps3 so day one for me. I am also a huge 3D fan who craves for more content to watch on my Panny so this combo is perfect for me. Bring it on for around 30 on Amazon hopefully.

i still don't understand what this all means. does it mean it will be one BD50 which includes the Tekken movie, plus Tekken Tag, plus a new animated short, or does it mean it will include only the short and the Tekken Tag game? Or two BDs one with the movie and the other with game and short?
Saw the movie at a special screening at my theater. The movie doesn't have a great storyline (I don't think anyone thought it would), but it did have the whole theater laughing (some intentional, some not). However Tekken is all about fighting, and the fights in this movie are great, especially the last few fights.
