Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the latest in
the "Saw" franchise, 'Saw IV' to Blu-ray on January 22nd, day-and-date with the DVD
release. Specs have yet to be announced for the release, which will be presented
in the unrated director's cut. Also, no supplemental material has been announced
at this time, but we should hear more soon as the release date quickly
approaches.
Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead. Now, upon the news
of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm and Agent
Perez, arrive in the terrified community to assist the veteran Detective Hoffman
in sifting through Jigsaw's latest grizzly remains and piecing together the puzzle.
However, when SWAT Commander Rigg is abducted and thrust into a game, the
last officer untouched by Jigsaw has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of
demented traps and save an old friend or face the deadly consequences.

I can't wait, but I have to. The last one was pretty good. I hope they lay down some high bitrates as usual (for maximum PQ). Lossless audio is almost a given, but will it be 7.1 channels or 5.1? |

Lionsgate is just one of the many reasons why Blu-ray has a big variety of titles compared to DUD.
Our titles range anywhere from "Cars" to "Saw".
Their titles range from "Evan Almighty" to "Transformers". |

I was very displeased with Saw IV..seems like they are trying too hard to perpetuate the series by adding more characters and up the gore level. Wouldn't be surprised if we see 3 more...jeez. |

This is great and all. But honestly I thought the 2nd and 3rd movies were not that good. And the fourth, I don't even want to watch it. I am not sure if this is a title I will buy, and I buy a lot of Blu titles. I already got rid of The Marine because that was one of the worst movies I have seen. I felt very stupid after watching it. Its nice for exclusive support though, I agree. |

The 4th asks you to accept an awful lot.....
I thought the 3rd one had it's place, but the 4th one is a reach. |

I really enjoyed this series and have seen all 4 albeit came out of the movie disappointed with the lack of the gripping signature theme tune being used in Saw4 - where did that get to exactly?
I also sometimes find the films too fast to follow but I like the action that way as it makes it so perfect for dvd and more so for the detail of blu-ray - please release as a full boxset from I-IV on blu-ray (using PS3 so make it region B or region free as well) pronto!
Well done Lionsgate!
PS ..Better still get rid of the Region lock altogether on the PS3 for blu-rays - we wanna be able to buy blu-rays when abroad on holiday or even over the web even if we have to pay the customs & excise duty - they would still be our personally bought disks so let us play em!
BTW, the HD-DVD camp are laughing at us coz of this! |
