Best Buy apparently continues to secure timed exclusives on Blu-ray. On September 25th, the retailer giant will have on its shelves three new catalog titles from Paramount Pictures: David Zucker's The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! Update: Paramount has just released the technical and supplemental specifications for the Blu-rays. All three discs will feature 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. In addition, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! will contain the following bonus materials:
Commentary by David Zucker, Robert Weiss, and Peter Tilden

The supplements package for Planes, Trains & Automobiles will include:

Getting There is Half the Fun: The Story of Planes, Trains And Automobiles featurette

John Hughes for Adults featurette

Airplane! will feature:
Commentary by producer Jon Davison and writers/directors Jim Abrahams, Jerry Zucker, and David Zucker
Extended "Long Haul Version" with Deleted Scenes, Interviews, and More
Nice! I hope these are priced like their other recent exclusives. I think the most expensive one was The Firm(also from Paramount) which was only $12.99.
I can't stand those darn exclusives!!! Can't they just release them regularly?????????????
I only have an account on Amazon.com, and can't buy from Best Buy...Grrrrr
All the good movies are exclusives lately! Sucks big time IMO!
I'll wait until widespread release. This crap has got to stop. I don't care about retailer exclusive packaging, but an entire move only available at one retailer is monopolistic and anti-consumer.
in for all 3. probably not on release date, but at least somewhere near there. especially Naked Gun. have been waiting for those forever: agree it would have been so much better to have all three of them out, but can't complan. Would be so awesome if we got Police Suad! as an extra in HD.
Love these movies, but not for $20 each. I'll wait for the prices to come down. Retailers/Distributors need to learn that $20 is too much for a catalogue release.
PT&A when it's $10. I Love John Hughes moies but, I can't see paying $20 per title. The Naked Gun was hilarious when I was a kid. I might pick that up when the price drops too.
I have been waiting for "Planes, trains & Automobiles" on Blu Ray! I hope they can include some more of the deleted footage, as a couple of scenes were included with the second "those aren't pillows" edition on dvd.
I had read with information that there was a 3hr director cut originally (before the final shaping and polishing).
Great to see Airplane! and The Naked Gun, two of my all-time favorite comedies, on the way to Blu. Airplane! would be an upgrade for me. I agree that it would be nice to also have the sequels to The Naked Gun, especially in a single package. I'll also consider buying the very funny Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
Due to the fact that the prices for such blu-ray exclusives tend to be a bit higher than when they're released generally -- and also due to the fact that September, for me, is already very crowded with release-date preorders, lol -- I'll probably wait a short while before finally buying any of these.
Airplane! and The Naked Gun are laugh-a-second films; you'll laugh so much and so hard it'll hurt. Fans of the Airplane!, without spoiling them for newcomers, remember these moments?...
-- "Excuse me, stewardess. I speak jive."
-- "...You wouldn't go in there unless you knew how to use your fists. You could count on a fight breaking out almost every night..."
-- "Captain Oveur, white courtesy phone, Captain Clarence Oveur, white courtesy phone."
-- "The white zone is for loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no parking in the red zone..."
-- "I've got to concentrate...I've got to concentrate..."
-- "...Have you ever seen a grown man naked?"
-- "...Do you like movies with gladiators?"
-- "Captain Oveur, you're clear for takeoff..."
-- "I like my coffee dark...like my men."
-- (Rising panic) "Oh my god. I can't take this anymore. I've got to get out of here. I've got to get out of here..."
-- "...By the way, does anyone here know how to fly a plane?"
-- "Smoking or non-smoking?..."
-- "I'll have the fish"
3 of my all time favorite comedies. Definitely grabbing all three. Now get the 2 Naked Gun sequels on blu, and I'm a happy man. (I can take or leave Airplane 2)
GAAAAAAH! I just bought the damn Planes, Trains, and Automobiles DVD this weekend, thinking a Blu-ray wasn't going to happen for some time. Boy do I feel stupid.
Does anyone else hope that PT&A will have the airline dinner sequence IN the movie?? It's all about the bun and the brownie! Some day I hope Paramount will give us the Naked Gun films with all of the missing sequences returned to the film where they belong, not just on television! All 3 will adorn my shelf as well!
Sept. 25 (a Sunday) is probably the correct release date even though it's not a Tuesday, as some have pointed out. There was a batch of Best Buy exclusives (I know The Manchurian Candidate and The Thomas Crown Affair were among that bunch) that were released before their scheduled Tue. release. Although I'm not certain it was a Sunday. Anyway, point is, I know Best Buy has released their exclusives on non-Tuesdays in the past.
Anyway, excited to see these comedies coming to blu-ray. Especially Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I'll definitely upgrade that if the price is right.
awesome once again best buy gets great classic movies. I guess I'll b ordering all three online cause Star Wars will b out and i ain't leaving the house till i watch it like a million times.
