Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the Day for September 14th features the HBO miniseries The Pacific for the reduced price of $38.99.
This Emmy-winning 10-part WWII epic centers on the experiences of two Marines (Joseph Mazzello and James Badge Dale) as they complete their tour of duty in the Pacific. The series was produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman.
The deal gets you the 6-disc set for 61% off the $99.98 list price, which is the lowest this release has been available on Amazon since last December. For those thinking of taking advantage, be wary that the series will be re-released in November alongside Band of Brothers in a Special Edition Giftset (albeit at a higher price of $134.99).
Special gift set of both The Pacific and Band of Brothers $134.99. If purchased separately $88.98.
You kids and your new math. Back in my day my old math would tell me to buy them separately, but this new math that Amazon uses is telling me to wait until the gift set comes out.
Even if you own them, and you know who you are. This makes a great Guy-Gift Christmas presents. And with Blu-ray Disc players well below $100.00 (through those deal a day sites). For less than $150.00 one could easily give this and a player to introduce someone to the world of high definition home video.
This set also qualifies for the Amazon Visa Rewards 20% off deal, if you use your card to pay for it and use the promotion code SEP20OFF. My final total was $31.19.
Got series from Netflix but couldn't get into it. Don't think I made it past the second episode. Was hoping for another BoB but it didn't work out for me.
I saw TPac as first run on HBO and highly recommend it. VERY realistic/graphic. The use of no-big-name actors made it more real. I just placed my Amazon order for it to bookend my BoB set (which I received as a gift).
