UK-based Revolver Entertainment has set a preliminary release date for Justin Kurzel's Snowtown (2011), starring Daniel Henshall, Lucas Pittaway, and Craig Coyne. The South Australian film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where it won FIPRESCI Prize - Special Mention. Its North American premiere was at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Street date is March 19th.
Shot on location in South Australia, with local actors, Snowtown tells the true story of Australia's most notorious serial murderer, John Bunting.
Note: Snowtown is already available on Blu-ray in Australia, via local distributors Madman Entertainment.
Seen this at the Toronto film festival, however the Australian accent was often times too hard to understand, so a repeat viewing, with subtitles, is definitely in order. Will pick it up.
