$5 Off Coupon for Super 8 (Updated)

Posted November 20, 2011 06:46 PM by Josh Katz

ParamountUpdate: Amazon has lowered the price to $19.99, so after applying the $5 off coupon, the price is now $14.99.

Amazon is offering a special $5 coupon for Super 8 Blu-ray. This promotional discount applies to the two-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack of director J.J. Abrams' nostalgic sci-fi/adventure.

Consumers who wish to take advantage of this offer need to add the Super 8 Blu-ray to their Amazon shopping cart and start the checkout process. When "WOODWARD" is entered in the "Gift Cards & Promotional Codes" box that appears during the "Shipping and Payment" stage, $5 will be deducted from the order total.

The promotion is available until November 27th. Super 8 streeted on November 22nd.

What if I already pre-ordered it? I was getting 1.25 off through a gold box deal. Do I have to cancel that to get the $5?

Usually, if you have a pre-order going, Amazon.com will issue a $5 credit to your account and let you know about it by email. Give them a few days.

Same thing happened to me twice this year already.

If you like the idea of Cloverfield with a dash of ET, and a love of film-making shot through the eyes of whoever was also on the Enterprise in STAR TREK then you will dig it.

Here's hoping for it being a birthday present, the end credits zombie movie is worth the price of admission alone. However the ending is a letdown, and that's all I'm saying, I love the movie regardless.

Except Cloverfield sucked and this doesn't. Also, no motion-sickness vomit-inducing shooting-style here

@neomaximuz: I tried to get amazon to add the coupon to my existing goldbox preorder this morning. They couldn't for some reason, but instead added a goldbox discount to a new order I placed using the $5 promo and cancelled the original order. So, it's doable, but might depend on the quality of the CSR you reach. Amazon's policies are either too vague or very wildly enforced by different CSRs. Some are helpful, others don't seem to care.

@PolskAltima, the first $5 off, I think is given by Amazon early from promotion on other product.

I also got $10 off before added woodward code. This $10 off is given to me from another product for me to utilize in next purchase with Amazon.

It would be great if Amazon dropped the movie to $20 or so by release day, and get that $5 on top of it. But even $22 isn't too bad for such a great film.

Will Paramount be offering a $5 Off Coupon on this movie like they did with Rango via their movie website? I won't be buying this off of Amazon.com because I don't want to end up being forced to pay full price or worse in order to get a perfect copy.

I actually managed to get two $5 coupons...

I cancelled my pre-order yesterday and re-ordered using the WOODWARD code.

My cancellation apparently overlapped with Amazon.com sending out separate $5 coupons to those who have a pre-order going, because I got one just like that a few hours AFTER cancelling.

My brother and I went to go see this movie. We loved it. Although, it JJ directed the movie, it's got Steven Spielberg all in it. I mean, the movie is chocked full of Steven's characteristics throughout the movie. I like JJ and I like Steven... together, they made this movie worth buying and seeing it over and over again. Day one for me and have already pre-order the day of the $5 announcement.

Just blind bought it. From what I have read this seems like a movie I will enjoy. J.J. won me over with Cloverfield. I thought that movie made what is an absurd idea (monster invading New York) almost seem real and possible. The documentary feel was great.

Just ordered my copy along with A Christmas Carol, for around $25.98 shipped. Can't wait to see it, as it's a blind buy for me. I figured a new release for $14.99 doesn't come around too often, so I figured what the hell.

Amazon is getting a little anal. If for some reason your pre-order doesn't ship be the end of release day, you don't get the lower price. You need to cancel and reorder. I think their fat profits this year is going to their head.

LJHewy

@slick1ru2
I have never had that problem. They have always honored their pre-order price guarantee without my need to cancel and re-order. And I am confident that if there was an issue a call to customer service would take care of it.

@funnyphish - I pre-ordered this when its regular price was $24.99. Amazon applied the $5 coupon, so I was charged $19.99 yesterday when the order shipped. Today I saw that the price had dropped another $5, so I asked Amazon if they'd be willing to honor the new price. They said an additional $5 credit had already been requested and that I should see it in 2-3 business days. So I'll end up getting the $14.99 price as if it were ordered today.

Amazon is awesome.
