Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' to Blu-ray on April 8th. Specs have not yet been announced for this title, but extras include an audio commentary track, two featurettes, two storyboard sequences, and deleted scenes. Exclusive to this Blu-ray release is a "Graphics and Picture Track".
Director Terry Gilliam (Brazil) and an all-star cast including John Neville, Eric Idle, Oliver Reedand Uma Thurman deliver this tale of the enchanting adventures of Baron von Munchausen on his journey to save a town from defeat. Being swallowed by a giant sea-monster, a trip to the moon, a dance with Venus and an escape from the Grim Reaper are only some of the improbable adventures.
No...Freaking...Way!!! I thought it would be YEARS before this got put on Blu-ray. It is a fantastic movie and should look stellar in Hi-def. I wonder if this is a result of that Sony poll on here? I remember it had quite a few votes...
I've never seen this movie myself (never got round to it) but, judging by Gilliam's Brazil (amazing film!) and Time Bandits (as mentioned above), I will defintely seek this one out on Blu-ray now!
Hmm, wonder if part of this is due to our voting preferences on here? I do remember this being one of the higher vote-getters on the 1980s polls. Whether it was that or the powers that be just decided to put it out, I think it's a great idea.
Well, finally dipping into the classics catalog. This is very good news indeed! Love this movie. I'd love to see Columbia's Oliver, Lawrence of Arabia, Funny Girl, Bridge on the River Kwai, and some of the big classics in addition to this!
Oh yeah baby, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, I can't wait!!! I would also like to see Time Bandits, Brazil and Twelve Monkeys come to Blu-ray, such a shame Twelve Monkeys is on Universal. Universal needs to go Blu!!! I believe that Time Bandits, Brazil and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen were treated as somewhat of a trilogy since there is a common theme with these movies. Or maybe it was Twelve Monkeys and not Brazil I forget but i definitley remember reading something about that...
Caught up in my prime, surrounded by beautiful women all the time...
