Fort Apache Blu-ray

Posted November 14, 2011 08:45 AM by Josh Katz

Warner Bros.Next February, Warner Home Entertainment will release Fort Apache on Blu-ray. Directed by John Ford (The Searchers), this first entry in Ford's unofficial "Cavalry Trilogy" stars John Wayne (Rio Bravo) and Henry Fonda (Once Upon a Time in the West) as two cavalry officers at odds with one another over what they each perceive to be proper treatment of the Apache tribe.

Warner has not yet announced the technical specifications for the Blu-ray, though the disc does contain the following bonus features:
  • Monument Valley: John Ford Country featurette
  • Commentary by F.X. Feeney
Fort Apache streets on February 21st, 2012.

Finally, another Duke title. Keep 'em coming, and let's hope for the rest of the trilogy.

Glad to see more classic films coming down the pike. Especially westerns and even more so John Wayne's westerns.

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon would be spectacular! I am crossing my fingers for my absolute favorite movie: The Quiet Man

Anything by John Ford is worth watching. I'll pick this one up for sure.

Glad to see more John Wayne and John Ford movies. As has been indicated already, I'd really like to see more of these classics get top of the line BD treatment. I will second the vote of "rkolinski" for They Were Expendable and She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. It seems with each viewing of They Were Expendable that this movie climbs higher and higher up my all time favorite movie list. As a Disabled Veteran, I am more able to relate to the core themes and messages explored by They Were Expendable with each passing year as I'm given time to reflect on some of that movie's seemingly timeless theme and message.

Hell yeah. One of my least fav Ford westerns, but I'm still glad to see release dates attached to his work. rkolinski called it with the movies that I'd love to have in HD. The man made over 100 movies - I'd buy them all if they were available.

OMG awesome news! But please release The Quiet man, THE masterpiece without a decent transfer since VHS.

Great, another damn idiotic John Wayne movie on Blu-ray. Why not release other titles?
