Harry Potter Blu-ray Replacement Program Implemented

Posted December 20, 2007 02:43 PM by Josh Dreuth

Warner Bros.As a temporary solution, Warner Home Entertainment is issuing single release replacement discs for owners who found an HD DVD version of 'Goblet of Fire' in their Blu-ray Harry Potter box sets. They will supply a boxset version of the disc, with matching artwork, to you once they have been printed. If you were affected by this, please contact WHV Customer Support at 1-800-553-6937.

We are also investigating an issue with the recently released 'Terminator 3' disc and 1080p playback. Once we have more information, we'll alert you to the problem.

WB has some SERIOUS explaining to do!!

Blade Runner discs mislabeled and put in the wrong case
HD DVD discs in Harry Potter BD box sets
Goblet of Fire discs with wrong artwork
Terminator 3 encoded via 1080i (or flagged at 1080i)

WTH is going on over there!! Get your $h!+ together Warner. We want you to give us Blu
exclusively, but not CRAP!

I think supporting 2 HD formats is just too much for them as they can't even get the discs
straight!!

At least they're correcting their mistake!

Alan,
I have all 5 individuals on Blu-Ray and they play on my PS3; I have the 60G and Firmware 2.10 but they also worked on 2.01.

shatta,
No replacement plan for POTC3, its just a typo on the back's description saying 1080i instead of 1080p but the disc is 1080p; there is a replacement plan for POTC1.

Yes, XDragon, I know, but if you read on here and AVSForum.com, you'll see that there are several people who cannot get HP4 to play on their PS3.

I also have 60G with Firmware 2.10... my disk has the box set artwork on it, and I've only gotten the disc to play ONCE in my PS3.

I stick the disc in, you hear the PS3 struggling to read the disc, several minutes later it reads as a BDMV, I try to play the disc and my PS3 tells me that there was an error in playing the disc. I did get it to play once, but when I tried it several more times afterward, I continued to get the error message. As I stated above, I am not the only one who is having this problem.

Little goblins are messing with the facilities over at WB headquarters. They belong to a secret society of HD-DVD supporters that do the bidding of much higher up people that can not be named!

DAMN YOU LITTLE GOBLINS!

I had a DUD Goblet and a completely missing Order of the Phoenix.
They are apparently on the way to me.
I look forward to having the set complete.

punkguy03, everybody that has been having problems (like me) has the newest firmware for the PS3 (2.10), and they still don't play right. It's takes minutes before the PS3 even reads the fact that you stuck in a BD... much less play, so I doubt it's a firmware issue...

Glad to see that WB is quick to resolve this issue. Now, what about those of us that opted to buy individual Harry Potter 1-5 BD's and got the boxset disc art version for GoF instead of the cast picture disc art version? Has anyone contacted the WB number to see if the number is valid for this issue as well? Because I sure as heck want my movies to be consistent in regards to the disc art. Maybe the whole mess with WB's BD packaging is their way of gauging how many of us Blu folks are actually buying their product so they can make the official switch to Blu-only? ;-)

I called the 800 number yesterday and they are sending me a replacement with the correct individual BD GOF disc art.
