The official website of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) has been hacked and is now directing traffic to the website of a not-so-perfect competitor. Do not be alarmed by this act of cyber-terrorism; the BDA is just fine. Until the problem gets resolved, please refrain from visiting that site.
Just for fun while we wait for the website to be fixed, please use the comment form below this post to finish this phrase:
Actually, I think this is a great thing!
These types of things does nothing but hurt the cause of the hacker.
I hope this gets worldwide press. It will show that Blu-Ray is clearly the winner, and HD-DVD fanboys are getting so desperate that they have to resort to breaking the law by hacking the competition. This wil never win any supporters, except by other crimials. All it does is draw attention to Blu-Ray and that is a good thing.
Keep up the good work HD-DVD supporters, you only hurt yourselves every time you do stuff like this. One more nail in the coffin.
The Look and Sound of Nielsen Doesn't Matter If We Can Hack It.
Whatever. Kids will be kids, and they have to have some amusement, having chosen a losing side this early in life, and for no discernable reason to boot.
When you become desperate, the pattern of behaviors start to show:
First you cheat - Keep telling the world about the standalone players and completely ignore the existence of PS3. Before long, they can't even do that.
Next you bribe - So Paramount fell for it after receiving 150 millions. Paramount HD sales revenue is halved ever since.
Next you do fire sale - So 90K people have been trapped in.
Next you try to hack and disrupt BD site and see if that will help.
Come on you guys lighten up... I thought it was pretty funny. You guys would be laughing if it was a Blu-ray Fanboy who did it to HD DVD. Just look at it for what its worth... humorous. I would say the same thing if it happened the other way around.
Talk about ultimate FUD from some HD DVD fanboi (or higher? *cough Toshiba*) Which leads me to
think that all the Warner problems may be from some poor fan bois being so desperate that they
need to sabotarge Blu-ray. Doesn't look good for them at all.
The Look & Sound of Desperation....
I have been successful in accessing the BDA website since my last comment, but now I can affirm that those hd-duds are very desperate... they are real Shi*.
hd-duds: "the look and sound of failure!"
The Look and Sound of a strong, stable, ANCIENT 10+ yrs old prettied up format and the desperate attempt to claim dominance as the "true" next generation with it!
The Look and Sound of a dusty museum with H-DuD mounted center with 8-track and Betamax to both sides of it.
The Look and Sound of crickets and old creaky wood tiredly groaning from disuse!
The Look and Sound of a mountain of H-DuDs mixed in with Atari 2600 E.T. cartridges in a landfill.
WOW...what a desperate attempt to gain attention to the losing competitor. I think we're seeing the beginning of the End for hd dvd. btw why do i always see people at Best Buy looking at Blu rays and not hd dvd's....ha ha ha.
DirtHerder: I understand what you mean with your knocks at "the other format", but regarding your reference to Betamax: It was actually the technically superior format. I believe it only lost out because of better marketing at the time by the VHS folks, that's all...
The difference this time around, though, is that the superior format -- Blu -- will win. Next year...
The look and sound of inferiority... Though shalt not be jealous of Blu-ray the superior high definition format... If you can't beat Blu-ray, HD DVD, then join Blu-ray... HD DVD we will make you part of our collective...Resistance is futile...
Oh, except for Hi-Def sound, which we usually can't fit in on our biggest blockbusters...
Oh, and except for Hi-Def Extras, which we can't fit in either since we need all available space to be able to do Hi-Def Video! Come on, we only have 30gb total on HD DVD afterall!!
Oh, and PLEASE don't make us release movies like Lord of the Rings, since then we would have to do a 2-disc flipper just to fit the damn movie in Hi-Def, hmm but 720p is still Hi-Def, right? Yeah that's it!!
That is pretty pathetic. I did a ton of research before deciding to get either format and it's stuff like this that reallr works against HD-DVD trying to keep what small percentage of the market share they have.
Wow I guess they will really stop at nothing to try and make themselves feel better about their dying format. I agree with Memnoch71 this is just a pathetic attempt to get attention. I wonder what rdjam has to say about this, considering they call us childish and need to get a life.
This is what it leads to? HD DVD fanboys HACKING websites to try to redirect people to HD DVD?!?!
Not only would it not fool anyone, it also makes them look even worse!
Not to mention it is illegal and they can trace that kind of activity.
I can not believe anyone in the HD DVD camp would stoop so low.. but now that I know they are
capable of such pathetic, desperate, despicable, inconsiderate, lowly moves like this one, I will never
look at another HD DVD promoter in the same light ever again.
If they are so good at hacking this stuff, they should lend a hand to HD and fix their crappy interface that lags and crashes and takes forever to load the disk, unlike the PS3.
I thought paying someone off (Parawhore) was very low. This is lowest of lowest denominator!!!
HD DUDS if you can't beat us then join us..it's the last resort(soon)
The look and sound of my dog and cat having more class than hd-dud supporters.
so hd-dud guys go lick yourself cause that's the only action you'll get in this war.
Oooohhhh snap............. yeah I went there I did ooooohhhhh.
an act of desperation. it really shows how HDDVD supporters are very sour because of BDs success in
the market. I say to them, its not too late, you can switch to the path of the light rather than stay
confused in the dark.
Folks, don't blame a whole community of consumers for the desperate acts of a few malcontents. I
feel bad for those who have sunk their hard-earned money into a format that should never have
been brought to market in the first place. Thankfully, I was able to recoup my HD DVD investment
last year when I sold all of my software on Ebay. I just wish I had unloaded the HD-A1 as well.
Warner Home Video needs to come to its senses and end this war with a major announcement at
CES. The longer this battle rages, the more indifferent consumers will become to high definition.
They could effectively shut down the sale of HD DVD players by making that important
announcement of exclusive Blu-ray support at CES in a couple of weeks. If it is financially feasible, a
lot of good will would be created by offering an exchange program for the software after making
such an announcement. Universal and Paramount would be churning out Blu-ray discs by summer,
contact or no contract.
Haha. I was just watching "The Kingdom" and the advertisement was "HD DVD", I just laughed because I read this article, and then went to watch the movie.
It looks like the HD-DVD group are getting desperate as they have to resort to this kind of attack to gain popularity. HD-DVD backers kinda smell and need to get their stinking format away from a quality one.
The Look of a blured image with bloom, and the sound of simulated surround sound. Their admission of defeat is simple. HD-DVD is already archiving itself by making sure an outdated format (standard dvd) is on the opposite side of it's "HD" content disk. If you want to "win" and push your new HD format why are you giving people the "option" to go backwards. The funny thing is, when you watch an HD dvd, and then flip it over and let the player "upconvert" the standard dvd I can barely tell the difference between the two.
The Look of "Good Enough" and the Sound of "Lossy Audio".
I still can't believe Warner Studios optimizes to this format so it can publish on both formats. What a loss.
If you want REAL high definition video and REAL high definition audio, buy a Disney / Buena Vista Blu-ray. Now there's a studio that knows what to do with 50GB discs.
I think its great. I own both and personaly I like HD DVD better. When microsoft releases the 80 gb disk say goodnight sony. Oh and did I mention that my PS3 Is a Piece of crap.
Dont have to. My brother works for microsoft... What I want to know is why the blu ray disks are so grainy. Do the PS3s not put out as good an image as the regular BD players?
