Fox Home Entertainment has announced that the highly anticipated Blu-ray release of 'Independence Day' will hit store shelves on March 11th. The release was initially delayed due to compatibility issues with some players. It seems now that those issues have been resolved, and that the release is ready to be delivered into consumer's hands.
All I can care about is the PQ and AQ because the movie is the main featurette and the special features are secondary stuff. Plus all that stuff with PIP and commentary isn't all important to me.
CrippyBlunt, you have to wait for it because Fox must wait for an available replication slot, which tend to book up weeks in advance, then ship all the discs to retailers, etc.
Actually this is interesting because it gives us a rough idea of how long that whole process takes from when they have the Master ready...
FOX became my favorite studio after the Paramount bribe. Yes, they did suffer a few issues but the quality they have introduced to their discs, both in audio and video terms, is what the BR format was made for: utter precision.
I think ID4 was my most anticipated movie of all time. I remember counting the days till it came to the theater. It feels like that again. Great to see its coming soon enough! Go Big Blu!!!!!!
I have no desire to buy this movie again but I anticipate hearing about the many bugs this release will undoubtedly have. What's the rush, this movie is almost 12 years old. The studios should become more familiar with the blu-ray format/technology before pushing out titles.
Its strange that fox in the UK seem to get titles released without a problem, ID4 was released on xmas eve, and Sunshine was released at the end of October. I haven't got ID4 yet, but the vidoe quality of sunshine is absolutly flawless. Its a shame that Fox don't release region free titles.
While I'm glad to see this released on Blu-ray, perhaps good for a rental....are some of you "going slightly mad"?...lol. Enjoy what you want, but calling this movie one of the best movies you've seen is a reflection that you haven't seen many good movies in my opinion. Ignorance is bliss I suppose...
