Jeremiah Johnson Blu-ray

Posted January 5, 2012 07:43 AM by Josh Katz

Warner Bros. This summer, Warner Home Entertainment will bring Jeremiah Johnson to Blu-ray. Nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival, filmmaker Sydney Pollack's classic adventure tale stars Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) as the title character, a veteran of the Mexican War who leaves the military, heads west, and becomes a mountain man.

Content with quietly living off the land, Johnson soon finds himself thrust into a series of ever-escalating hardships, both natural and human-motivated, though it is his feud with the local Crow Indians that elevates Johnson to legendary, almost mythic status.

Warner has not yet announced the technical and supplementary specifications for the Blu-ray.

Jeremiah Johnson is expected to street on May 1st.

I there needs to be more Robert Redford films on blu-ray....like The Sting and Brubaker...
I think they should be releasing more films 60's-90's on blu-ray

One of Redford's best performances! In fact it's the first film I remember seeing him in where I thought he was actually acting a character instead of just being a movie star.

Awwwesome! I LOVE this movie! It's full of amazing scenery, too, so hopefully they will give this the great transfer it deserves.

Speaking of Redford films, I'd love to see Downhill Racer, The Candidate, and The Great Waldo Pepper come to Blu with a solid transfer. I'm not going to hold my breath though since these three didn't get much love on DVD. Three Days of The Condor would also be on that list.

Yes, yes, YES!!!!

Quite possibly, one of the 10 films that impacted me the most when my "inner cinephile" was developing in my very young age.

And let's add my vote to THE GREAT WALDO PEPPER, although I am afraid it is mired by some ownership mess.

I got my parents a Blu Ray player and this was the very first movie they asked me to get them. He will be so excited as will my mom too. looks like this is finally the year Blu Ray opens up the flood gates and unleashes all the good oldies.
