Wow. The Matrix collection is on sale again. Just bought it on the last black friday sale for 25 bucks too. haha.
It's absolutely a great deal. Around $8 for each movies.
FYI for those interested - the digital copy that came with the disc expired in 2010. Nevertheless, still a good deal for the handful of people who don't already own it.
pfffff,again.....they better put up the Star wars saga box for deal of the week, been waiting and waiting for that one to lower in price....common Amazon....
i double dipped because i already own this on HD-DVD but for the price, and what it is, it was worth the double dip! this is truly a classic. also, i'm aware that once my HD-DVD player dies, I'm outta luck for all the disc so again, given it's the entire matrix collection & the animatrix, i just couldn't resist. these movies are both beautiful to watch and a super treat for the ears!
The Matrix was a great film. The two sequals were.. eh at best. They are watchable on TNT late saturday night when you are bored but it's hard watch Reloaded and Revelations all the way through.
I have Matrix in Digibook, Ill debate the other 3 movies in this set as the only 2 good scenes in Reloaded and Revelations are the Highway Chase scene and the Battle of Zion. For 25 dollars tho it may tempt me.
Who cares... the only one that is any good was the first one and maybe, just maybe the last one. It ain't worth $26 bucks though. I know, I bought it the first time around when it was on sale back in Nov. 2011. Only liked the first one. So who cares if Amy puts this on sale again. In truth, it's worth about $10 bucks and that's it.
I just picked this up! I saw this post earlier this morning and was really interested (I LIKE the Matrix, but never LOVED it), yet I did not plan to buy it. Later, I randomly looked in a drawer near my computer and saw that I never used a $25.00 Amazon gift card I got for Christmas. With the free shipping option selected, I got this set for only $.49!
Edit- Just noticed the post above about the expired digital copies. I can't complain, considering how little I spent, but digital copies should never, ever have an expiration date.
Good deal for those who have not jumped on this. I got this in Nov. when it was the same price. I'm trying to decide if the boxset is worth it because I'm still not crazy for Reloaded/Revolutions after revisiting the trilogy. Also, as others have noted, it'd be nice if Amazon could move on to some newer sales instead of repeating deals over again.
I paid about £20 for the UK releases of The Matrix and The Animatrix, the only ones I'm really interested in. I have the Ultimate Matrix DVD collection, so can refer to that for the extra content, or if I want to punish myself, the 2 Matrix sequels.
Grabbed this when it was a Deal of the Day some time ago and devoured all three movies in one sitting. Absolutely astonishing how great the first one is and how, by comparison, extreme expectations or just true nonsense, the sequels were terrible. Such a complete dead-drop in quality and concept, experienced even more powerfully when watching the whole "trilogy" together.
I had picked mine up used awhile ago. Had then traded the DVD set of the movies to a friend. I believe I'd paid something like $25 then for the BD set, and got 20 bucks for the DVD's from my friend.
