In April, Warner Home Entertainment will bring Born to Be Wild to Blu-ray. Originally shown in IMAX 3D, this nature documentary details the struggles that orphaned animals face in the wild.
From Warner's official synopsis:
"Narrated by Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption), Born to be Wild is an inspiring story of love, dedication, and the remarkable bond between humans and animals. This film documents orphaned orangutans and elephants and the extraordinary people who rescue and raise them—saving endangered species one life at a time. [This] heartwarming adventure transport[s] moviegoers into the lush rainforests of Borneo with world-renowned primatologist Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas and across the rugged Kenyan savannah with celebrated elephant authority Dame Daphne M. Sheldrick as they and their teams rescue, rehabilitate, and return these incredible animals back to the wild."
Could not WAIT to see this in the theater after watching an IMAX trailer before... I can't remember what. But, completely missed it and cannot WAIT to watch it in glorious 3DBD!!
2 Blu-Rays are used for the 3D version for a 40 minute movie. Even if they are encoded separately and given a maximum bitrate they could still easily fit on one BD-50
the new IMAX digital cameras that were used for this feature produced some amazing crisp imagery - this should look fantastic on bluray! I am not happy though that Warner is releasing this, since their pricing is outrageous and expensive - Image's 3D bluray's are the right price, Warner's is not.
I just have to wonder why it's going to finally be released on home video over a year since the theatrical release.. holiday themed things are one thing, but I don't understand this one.
Hope this will be better than the other documentaries. Only a few are worth watching. I hope this one will be worth keeping in my library. Sorry to sound like a wet blanket, but getting kind of tired of buying crappy 3D documentaries.
@backgroundactorman - it will have been a year by the time it comes out though. came out in IMAX on April 8th, and will be released on Blu-ray/DVD on April 17th.. so a year and 9 days
