Les Enfants du paradis Blu-ray

Blu-ray MoviesIndependent British distributors Second Sight have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray Marcel Carné's legendary Les Enfants du paradis a.k.a Children of Paradise (1945). Newly restored by Pathe, Les Enfants du paradis is regarded by many as the greatest French film ever made. Exact technical specs, region coding status and supplemental features to be included on this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary release date revealed by the distributors is May 7th.

Note: In the U.S., Les Enfants du paradis is currently available on DVD via the Criterion Collection.

Great news!! This must be one of the most anticipated releases of 2012. Pathé wanted to release it in France on November 2011 but cancelled it without giving us any clue. The masterpiece has undergone a first-rate restoration - I can't wait to add this to my BFI collection!

Hopefully, a Region A release from Criterion will also be forthcoming.
