Amazon's Blu-ray Gold Box Deal of the Day affects the Academy Award-winning The Godfather Collection boxset.
Paramount Home Entertainment's Blu-ray release of the iconic gangster trilogy, The Godfather Collection stars Al Pacino (Dog Day Afternoon) as Michael Corleone, a young man who inherits the top mob boss position of "Godfather" from his father, Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando, Apocalypse Now).
This four-disc collection is director Francis Ford Coppola's much-lauded digital restoration of his Godfather films, the third of which - 1990's The Godfather: Part III - is only available on Blu-ray through this franchise boxset.
The Godfather Collection includes commentary by Coppola on The Godfather, The Godfather: Part II, and The Godfather: Part III, and it features a fourth Blu-ray disc filled with supplemental materials on the making of the series as well as its sustained impact on cinematic culture.
Through today, Amazon is offering The Godfather Collection for $25.00.
Why the hell would Paramount let Criterion have these films? THAT individual would be out of a job tootsweet! Besides...Paramount did a great job with them and Coppola signed off on the transfers as well.
Bought! Finally a price I can bite at, as III is...well, it's bad and I'm not in the "II is better than I" camp, but the extras and the restorations make it worth this price for me.
bboehme: "one more off the wishlist and into my collection"
Same here, this box set and Apocalypse Now have been sitting in my wishlist for quite a long time. I almost pulled the trigger a few times but still held on until today. Got this one and ordered Apocalypse Now for $16 from B&N as well. Great deals!!
I already own this box set.. the movies are outstanding.. they look great. Anyone interested in this set should take advantage of this price. It is indeed a deal. Sometimes I wish I were more patient, cause I paid much more than 25.00. Grab it. Now.
