CES 2008: Live with Lionsgate Blu-ray (Updated with Pictures)

Posted January 9, 2008 03:21 PM by Ben Williams

CESToday at CES, Lionsgate announced their new MOLOG, or, Movie Blog, BD Live feature. This interactive feature allows a viewer to participate in online discussions regarding Lionsgate Blu-ray titles. This online discussion community will be accessible from a BD Live player and blogging can be done while the film is being viewed or as a standalone feature. Viewers can also access MOLOG from any home computer with an internet connection. Lionsgate's upcoming Blu-ray release of Saw 4 will mark the studio's debut of this new feature when the title is released next month. Lionsgate anticipates including access to the the MOLOG community as a standard feature on all of its BD Live compatible Blu-ray releases.

I know it wasn't a huge blockbuster or anything, but I want Step Into Liquid in glorius Blu-Ray high definition. Is that too much to ask from Lionsgate?

I wonder if this feature will allow us to sync the film from multiple locations (i.e., the feature on the HD DVD release of Order Of The Phoenix).

Cool feature. Im sure my girlfriend would like it. Its not a must have feature for me, but I definitely like how studios are getting more creative with this sort of thing. The more the better.

I think that is a funny feature to add. Yes I love this movie so much, I need to blog about it RIGHT
NOW, while I'm watching it!

Mark me down as another wondering why in the world would someone want to blog if they are truly watching the movie. Give me titles and my friends can come over and watch it with me.

Still, it's a sign that there will be more pressure to get 1.1 and 2.0 players on the market, which will contribute to more competition and better prices overall for even the 1.0 players.

Thats pretty funny Seretur. Think that Lionsgate is going to be making some sacrifices before each blu-ray movie comes out now? I wonder if they will start with Bill Gates.

They need to announce that until more players support DTS-HD MA that they will release all their movies in PCM.
