In April, the Cohen Media Group will bring Chasing Madoff to Blu-ray. Director Jeff Prosserman's documentary tells the story of the analyst who spent years doggedly trying to expose Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme.
From Cohen Media Group's official synopsis:
"At approximately 8:30 a.m. on December 11, 2008, two federal agents entered the luxurious New York City penthouse of 133 East 64th Street and arrested Madoff, the admitted mastermind behind the largest act of financial fraud in world history. The arrest was the culmination of a decade of investigations and puzzle solving. Ten years earlier, Boston-based securities analyst Harry Markopolos had discovered highly improbably investment gains recorded by Bernard L. Madoff Securities. Markopolos quickly ascertained that Madoff was running an immense Ponzi scheme – a fraudulent operation in which wealthy investors were lured by the promise of high returns but for which no actual profits were ever produced. Spotting the crime was one thing; proving it and stopping it became Markopolos' greater challenge."
The technical and supplementary specifications for the Blu-ray are still unknown.
Chasing Madoff is expected to street on April 3rd.
Bernie ripped people off who were blinded by their own greed. They should have known that it was too good to be true. I'm sure this is an interesting documentary but, the topic is not nearly as important as the atrocious scandals covered and exposed in "Inside Job".
