This May, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bring Underworld: Awakening to Blu-ray. This fourth installment in the action-horror franchise stars Kate Beckinsale (Contraband) as Selene, a vampire negotiating her way through the brutal war between the Vampire and Lycan species.
From Sony's official synopsis:
"Selene...escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species."

In addition, a series box set will also street on the same day as the individual Underworld: Awakening discs; this Blu-ray/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack will bundle together all four Underworld entries.
Underworld: Awakening is expected to street on May 8th.
The third one is a rehash of the flashbacks you see in the first (without Kate, of course), extended to a mildly bearable 100-minute movie. The fourth, I haven't seen, but since it's clocking in at 88 minutes, your pain will be short-lived... yet I saw a few trailers and images and she does wear that outfit as if she were in her early 20s... still looking that way also... But the reviews I had of the fourth weren't that great, so I wouldn't think they get better. It would be rather time to put the final nail into the coffin, if you ask me.
Missed this in theaters. I'll definitely pick it up. I'm a completist. The 2nd film is the weak link in the franchise so far. Hopefully this one will build on the much better 3rd entry.
So I guess "The Essential Collection" box set that was released a mere couple months ago wasn't all that essential. Haha! Oh, well... I bought that to guarantee having the animated episodes. Can't wait to own the fourth!
This provided pretty much everything that I expect from an Underworld movie: a short runtime, a lot of blood, fights and Kate kicking ass, and little to no storyline/dialogue. I don't own any of the previous ones, so I'll probably get the 4-movie collection after the inevitable price drop some time.
I just hope the animated shorts are included as I already own the first 3 and missed out on them. I would double dip for extended versions of the other movies though. Looking forward to details.
@Pixarforlife bluray.com has Sherlock Holmes listed for June 12 not sure what the long was for but I am dying for that to come out on blu this movie was in theaters later than SH and was released earlier than SH wtf
The Underworld series is one of my guilty pleasures. I can NOT wait for this to be added to my collection. Looking forward to seeing if there's any store exclusives.
@Coligion - I have it but I didn't see the movie in theaters so I decided to just watch 1-3 and the shorts before I watch the new one.. but from what I gathered, it seems to bridge the events between Evolution and Awakening.. but maybe I'm wrong and somebody who's actually seen it can be of more help lol
@thephantomcat - the only details Sony has for Underworld: The Legacy Collection so far is that it's 4 discs, which would mean the animated shorts aren't part of it, unless they put them on special collection versions of Awakening which I personally would doubt.
I'll get this day one if possible.. I liked 1 and 2.. but 0.5 (aka Rise of the Lycans) was pretty pointless.
Thanks for the info Kevin87. I guess they've got me to double dip 3 movies I already own. Lol! Ah, well. My sister loves these movies and doesn't have them on Blu-ray. Studios double dipping are making me a very good brother.
YES!!! Day one buy for me if I can. Really glad the special features seem like they are going to be decently plentiful . Plus the 3d for this movie was pretty good too I think . Love the boxart and hope it comes with a lenticular slip *fingers crossed*
Not cool that sony never includes the SD disc with the 3D disc.
I don't want to watch one channel of the 3D disc when I want to watch it in SD.
Sorry thats not 1080P it's cropped to make 3D Right and Left channels.
Come on Sony include the SD disc with 3D disc like every other company.
That's just being cheap. Really cheap.
I can't believe on one else complains about this.
