This fall, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will bring Secret of the Wings to Blu-ray. The animated family film follows the continuing adventures of Disney's iconic Tinker Bell character.
From Disney's official synopsis:
"Journey with Tinker Bell and her fairy friends into the forbidden world of the mysterious Winter Woods, where curiosity and adventure lead Tink to an amazing discovery and reveal a magical secret that could change her world forever."
The 3D packaging states that it is a "Flitterrific Fairies Double Pack". What the F*** is that?
Oh I guess it says that it includes a Bonus Adventure, so it might include the Pixie Hollow Games or some other short. Seems odd that they are extending their 3D releases to DTV movies now, and also that they are pulling the BS trick of skimping on the features for the standard 2D version.
These releases have pretty good A/V presentations and they are mildly entertaining, especially if you have little girls in your household. I hope to pick up the 3D version if it lowers some.
Laugh all you want. The Tinkerbell movies, though straight to video, are very good. Excellent picture, sound and very light hearted stories. It also helps having young girls in the household.
I just can't believe it took this long for the 4th movie of the series. It's been delayed since Feb 2011.
These are actually pretty good kid flicks. I can think of plenty of worse animated movies to watch with my niece. And to be perfectly honest, The Great Fairy Rescue was actually one of the better Disney films from the last ten years. They actually have a story being told and the films were definitely made with some passion and heart. Personally I'll take these over the majority of Dreamworks output (HTTYD being the exception)
"I'm not going to bash these movies, but this is time and money Disney could be spending the remaster their classics for a Blu release."
Ya, you've got it completely backwards. Tinkerbell is a franchise. The merchandise sells well. These movies are funding the restorations of the classics, not the other way around.
