Earlier today, Sony Pictures released the first official trailer for director Rian Johnson's highly anticipated new film Looper (2012), starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt. The film is set to open in theaters across the United States on September 28th.
In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented - but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" - a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good... until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe's future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.
As a lifelong lover of all things noir, "Brick" about knocked my head off. It was an incredible genre-bending exercise and an equally wonderful performance from Levitt. I saw it as something of a kid brother to Kiss Me Deadly and Chinatown.
Haven't caught The Brothers Bloom yet but I'm salivating over Looper. The trailer was everything I hoped for when I first read the synopsis.
Loved Brick and Brothers Bloom but I'm not totally sold on this one. What's up with the weird make-up on JGL to make him look like Willis? Seems a little unnecessary and distracting.
