Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will release the Arnold Schwarzenegger classics 'Predator' and 'Commando' to Blu-ray on April 15th. Both releases will be encoded in 1080p MPEG-2 and accompanied by DTS-HD MA audio. Full extras have yet to be officially announced, but expect only the minimal.
Come on... Come on! Do it! Do it! Come on. Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Kill me! I'm here! Kill me! Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Come on! Do it now! Kill me!
ROFL!
Getting this the day it comes out...maybe not Commando though dont like it too much except for the garden scene where he kills about 20 guys.
I love that "buy Commando with a straight face" comment. Arnold is great fun and I bet Predator will look great but I'll have to be in a very goofy mood to buy Commando.
Yeah. I want Predator also. But I hope they're not MPEG 2. I think I'll wait for some reviews. I'm not giving Fox my hard earned cash for them so start putting out crap encodes.
Long Tall Sally, she built sweet, she got everything, that Uncle John need. Aw baby, I'm gonna have me some fun, I'm gonna have me some fun, I'm gonna have me some fun.
I'm in Nebraska and I've seen Commando at Nebraska Furniture Mart for quite a few months now. I did not know that Commandos release date had been delayed. It's been on the shelves for quite some time. Movie even comes with D-Box motion code.
im not being funny but im not guna purchase predator £25-30 to then have to re purchase a special edition blu ray a year later with all the extras. No offence but if my normal 2disc special edition dvd has all these amazing features why cant a blu ray 25gb disc have them? if fox cant fit them why dont they use a 50gb disc!! Think i'll wait for a special edition blu ray thanks
"mpeg2is not a good codec all mpeg2 codecs is very bad only yhe animation its gooed i wil not
purches mpeg2 codecs"
First learn to speak english... Unless it is not your native language! Then your OK. Second go
watch Crank.
"Mpeg 2 and VC 1 are identical except for 1 paramitor changed by Mircosoft. This codac will make
the movie exactly the same quality as HD DVD. As we all learned, copying an HD DVD to a Blu-ray
disc means they will be exactly the same quality in every way. I recomend buying movies in AVC as
the bit rate is much higher giving more colours and shades, better with dark pictures and fast
moviing action. Lets use this form to let the studios know their not going to sell us the high
resolution copy of the DVD they have on file, but have to remaster the movie in AVC which is far
better suited for Blu-ray. Other wise they will start bring out special additions in a few years after
they remaster them in AVC, in order to sell us the same films all over again. Lets not be the
suckers they think we are."
New Line encoded Shoot 'Em Up in VC-1 with a Bit rate at times close to 50... I didn't know MPEG-
2 could do that!
I want to buy these titles but I'm going to pass over the MPEG-2 codec usage, which makes me mad because I love the Schwarzenegger flicks with the exception of "Last Action Hero".
I bought "Predator" on DVD when it first hit. It was a poor transfer that was highly grainy. Shortly thereafter, they re-released it with DTS Audio support but I forget now if they made a better transfer.
It is high time that the studios fully embrace AVC as the preferred codec and finally dump both MPEG-2 and VC-1 from all future releases. Our platform was the superior HD disc format and it is high time that the studios take advantage of it.
Recently, I rented "Total Recall" on Blu-ray and it is terribly grainy. It needs a new film transfer/digital scrubbing and a new AVC encoding job to boot.
im not fussed about the codecs as long as the picture is amazing and has lossless audio. What annoys me is they dont use the full capacity 50gb and put all the extra features that they already have out on dvds. It doesnt give you much of an incentive to replace the special edition dvds just for better picture and sound, because you would lose all of these extras!!
if they include the special features that are already on the special edition dvds, alot more people would be enclined to upgrade.
BYEEEEEIIIIIMMM!!!! GET THE FAAAACK DOWN! Finally, I will won both of these! I have been WAITING since last March for Commando to get re-announced. I will own this, and rock the sweet-ass steel drum soundtrack in DTS. GET TO THE CHOPPA
Might pick these up when they come over to the UK
Finally the Fox have submitted a full uncut version of Commando for Blu Ray
I have at the moment the Region 1 DVD of Commando because our Region 2 is cut to ribbons!!
