Earlier today, the Cannes Film Festival jury, headed by Italian director Nanni Moretti, awarded director Michael Haneke the prestigious Palme d'Or for his latest film Amour. The film stars legendary French actors Jean-Louis Trintingnant (The Conformist, Red) and Emmanuelle Riva (Hiroshima Mon Amour, Léon Morin, Priest).
The Grand Prix Award went to Italian director Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah) for his new film Reality, starring Aniello Arena, Loredana Simioli and Nando Paone.
Mexican helmer Carlos Reygadas (Battle In Heaven) won Best Director Award for Post Tenebras Lux, starring Adolfo Jiménez Castro, Nathalia Acevedo and Willebaldo Torres.
Romanian writer and director Cristian Mungiu picked up the Best Screenplay Award for Beyond the Hills, starring Cosmina Stratan, Cristina Flutur and Valeriu Andriuta.
The young Romanian actresses Cosmina Stratan and Cristina Flutur from Cristian Mungiu's film also share the Best Actress Award.
Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen won the Best Actor Award for his performance in fellow countryman Thomas Vinterberg's The Hunt.
The Jury Prize went to acclaimed director Ken Loach for his The Angels' Share, starring Paul Brannigan, John Henshaw and Gary Maitland.
The Palme d'Or for Short Film was awarded to Turkish director L. Rezan Yesilbas for Sessiz-be deng.

Special Distinction Award - Djeca (Children of Sarajevo) directed by Aida Begic
Un Certain Regard Award for Best Actress - Émilie Dequenne for her performance in Joachim Lafosse's À perdre la raison (Loving Without Reason) and Suzanne Clement for her performance in Xavier Dolan's Laurence Anyways.
Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize - Le Grand Soir directed by Gustave Kervern and Benoît Delepine, and starring Benoît Poelvoorde, Albert Dupontel and Brigitte Fontaine.
Prize of Un Certain Regard - Despues De Lucia directed by Michel Franco.
