Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bring Damsels in Distress to Blu-ray in July. The first film from writer/director Whit Stillman (Metropolitan) since 1998's The Last Days of Disco, this whimsical comedy centers around a group of young women at a liberal arts college who try to improve the lives of the people around them.
From Sony's official synopsis:
"Led by the dynamic Violet (Greta Gerwig, Greenberg), principled Rose (Megalyn Echikunwoke, House of Lies), and sexy Heather (Carrie MacLemore, Gossip Girl), they welcome transfer student Lily (Analeigh Tipton, Crazy, Stupid, Love) into their group, which seeks to help severely depressed students through a program of donuts and tap dancing. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men, including smooth Charlie (Adam Brody, Mr. & Mrs. Smith), dreamboat Xavier (Hugo Becker, The Assault), and the mad frat pack of Frank (Ryan Metcalf, Fighting Fish) and Thor (Billy Magnussen, Twelve), [both of whom] threaten the girls' friendship and sanity."
Sony's Blu-ray presents the film in its 1.85:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains the following supplements:
Commentary with Whit Stillman and members of the cast
Damsels in Distress: Behind the Scenes featurette
An Evening with Damsels in Distress feature
A Great Lotion feature
Damsels in Distress is expected to street on July 31st.
