Inception Media Group have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray director Martin Huberty's Deserter a.k.a Simon: An English Legionnaire (2002), starring Paul Fox, Tom Hardy and Kate Maberly. Street date is July 17th.
Englishman Simon Murray (Paul Fox, Red Tails), disillusioned by a failed romance, blindly joins the French Foreign Legion. His idealistic fantasy is soon shattered when he encounters his fellow recruits, including Pascal Dupont (Tom Hardy, The Dark Knight Rises, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), all escaping pasts far less innocent than his own.
After a sadistic training regime, the full-fledged Legionnaires march off to battle in North Africa a melting pot of violent confusion and brutal, ungoverned guerilla warfare in an effort to quell the bloody, 1960 Algerian civil uprising for independence. But a change of allegiance threatens to tear the mercenary band's loyalties apart and Murray and Dupont now stand on opposite sides.
