Studio Canal have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray Paul Verhoeven's Total Recall (1990), starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone and Michael Ironside. The film will be available for purchase in a standard Triple and SteelBook Special Editions on July 16th.
The new Triple Play Editions include several exciting bonus features not available before, including a new interview with Verhoeven discussing the film after 20 years, as well as a featurette on the visually stylish special effects of the time.
To celebrate the release, the film will also screen in selected cinemas nationwide for one night only on 10th July, to allow fans the opportunity for another big screen outing of the much loved, retro classic.
I'll wait for the steelbook unboxing first. Optimum has a trend of releasing sub-par steelbooks, remember Source Code. But if the steelbook turns out bad I'll just take the Triple Play and have a wonderful slip as a bonus, have to say Optimum slips are good.
Gotta love how a new remake of a movie will unleash all these "new" editions of the original. With that said, I'll be getting the US "Mind-Bending Edition.' Hopefully there is a noticeable upgrade in quality from the first transfer.
Think I'll wait till the US upgrade is out as well then see which one wins out on picture quality and extras... about time someone gave Total Recall the deluxe treatment, it's a great action film.
Can anyone post a link regarding a new transfer being done? I'm tempted to pick it up alone just for the lossless track as the other one was dts-hr, but a new transfer would seal the deal.
