The Weinstein Company has just released another clip from their upcoming theatrical feature The Master. The newest film from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights), this drama stars Joaquin Phoenix (Walk the Line) as a troubled drifter who, following his discharge from the military in the early 1950's, falls under the spell of Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Magnolia), the charismatic founder of a mysterious religious organization.
In addition to Phoenix and Hoffman, The Master features an impressive supporting cast that includes Amy Adams (The Fighter), Laura Dern (Blue Velvet), Jesse Plemons (Paul), Kevin J. O'Connor (There Will Be Blood), and W. Earl Brown (Deadwood).
Update: Below is the film's official theatrical trailer.
The Master's limited U.S. release date is October 12th.
i got here late. it was taken off. never the less, im excited for this. PTA has yet to make a bad film in the slightest of senses. hopefully this release will get the ball rolling on Hard Eight and Punch-Drunk Love blus
@repete - Saying PTA is "the most overrated, overhyped director" is unfair to Terrence Malick.
(And who else is guessing they're going to try and get some chicken-fictionalized Lee Harvey Oswald parallel out of the story?..)
Trust me, the general mainstream audiences don't really enjoy a PTA film.. Not a lot of people I talk to really understand the genius minds behind the masterpiece, There Will Be Blood. So saying that he is overhyped is really a lazy attempt.
Couldn't care less about PTA's status either way (I did enjoy There Will Be Blood though)......this looks very intriguing. The teaser was meh but this now goes up higher on my list!
