In July, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring Casa de mi Padre to Blu-ray. Director Matt Piedmont's telenovela spoof stars Will Ferrell (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) as Armando Alvarez, a dim rancher who unwittingly takes on a dangerous Mexican drug cartel.
From Lionsgate's official synopsis:
"Armando Alvarez has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico his entire life. When the ranch begins to struggle with its finances, Armando's younger brother Raul (Diego Luna, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights) comes to the rescue and brings his beautiful fiancée, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez, Man on a Ledge). Raul is a successful international businessman, who shows promise for helping save the ranch, but when Armando falls for Sonia and Raul's business dealings turn out to be shady, the Alvarez family finds themselves in a full-out war with each other and with Mexico's most feared drug lord, Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal, Babel)."
Lionsgate's Blu-ray presents the feature in its 2.39:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains the following supplements:
Behind-the-scenes featurette
Deleted scenes
"Fight for Love" music video by Will Ferrell and Genesis Rodriguez
Four different "Commerciales" starring Will Ferrell, Diego Luna, Genesis Rodriguez, Efren Ramirez, and Nick Offerman
Pedro Armendáriz Jr.'s final interview
Commentary by Matt Piedmont, writer/producer Andrew Steele, and Will Ferrell
I don't care what anyone says, this movie looks hilarious! Will Ferrell took Spanish lessons sorely so he could star in this movie, and for anyone who's attempted Spanish knows that it takes some dedication!
The movie is too short, 75 minutes long ! It's more like a chapter of a mexican telenovela. The best thing on it is the Christina Aguilera opening song, so guess how " fun " this movie is .... Will Ferrell did an excelent job speaking spanish by the way.
