British label Entertainment One has revealed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of director Ken Loach's latest film The Angels' Share (2012), starring Paul Brannigan, John Henshaw and Gary Maitland. Earlier this year, the film won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The preliminary release date set by the label is September 24th.
From director Ken Loach, and scripted by regular collaborator Paul Laverty, The Angels' Share introduces Robbie, an ex-offender and new father who embarks on an adventure with his new found friends to a whisky distillery and discovers that turning to drink might just change his life. Set in Scotland, and starring newcomer Paul Brannigan, The Angels' Share is a bitter sweet comedy cape.
Any film from the brilliant Ken Loach will be, at least, interesting. I'll always remember The Wind that Shakes the Barley, Sweet Sixteen and even Looking for Eric.
I'm looking forward to seeing The Angels' Share in US theaters, then, perhaps, owning the blu-ray soon thereafter.
