This October, Warner Home Entertainment will bring Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Complete Season Four to Blu-ray. The fourth season of the popular animated television show, which takes inspirations from George Lucas' iconic Star Wars film series, details the continuing intergalactic strife between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
From Warner's official synopsis:
"The battle to save the galaxy reaches new heights of peril and new depths of darkness. The valiant Jedi Knights and clone troopers defend exotic planets from enemy forces. They wage war underwater, battle across a night-shrouded world, and take on the merciless Death Watch. Our heroes are tested like never before as Anakin is haunted by the realities of his past, Ahsoka fights to free her people, and an undercover Obi-Wan braves a deadly bounty hunter tournament. Season Four culminates with the shocking return of a villain from the past: the ruthless Darth Maul, who will stop at nothing to achieve vengeance."
Warner's three-disc Blu-ray collection will present all twenty-two Season Four episodes in their original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks. The Blu-ray set will also contain the following bonus supplements:
Five video commentaries
Blu-ray exclusiveJedi Temple Archives, a database of early test animations, concept art, and 3-D turnarounds
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Complete Season Four streets on October 23rd.
I was really upset that season 3 wasn't a digibook like seasons 1 and 2 so I may way until the show is over and pick up a complete set if they release one.
i am a fan of the show and loved season 4 on CNHD, but can't wait to see it in 1080p/Lossless! while a digibook would have been a nice thing to keep going, it makes no difference to me as i mentioned before, i'm a fan of the show. i've not missed a season on TV nor on Blu and i don't intend to start now. for me, this is the best animated show on.
having said that, i can't wait for the first season of the avatar's "the legend of Kora" it's very well done and the surround effects on NickHD are incredible (made my head turn around during several episodes).
I'm a big fan of good animation and great story telling and of character development. i care about the characters in the clone wars because i know how it's gonna turn out in the end, so the insight into the "what makes them tick" is important. great stuff, can't wait, day one purchase!
Can't wait for this, S3 was a mixed bag that ended in a really high note. It's a shame that this release has even less features than S3, which was already lacking compared to S1 and S2.
@solarradadd
My problem with season 3 not being a digibook was that they are charging the same amount for season 3 as a stand alone bluray set that they were charging for a digibook set for seasons 1 and 2. I think the price for seasons 3 and 4 should be $10 less than seasons 1 and 2 since they are not digibooks.
Also you should check out Tron Legacy on XDHD or disney.go.com/disneyxd/. That is if you have seen the Tron movies.
This is a decent show, hindered only by the fact that, like all prequels, we know that every Republic victory is pointless. lol.
Also sometimes it slips too much into childish-ness though the show has gotten better and being serious and adult oriented. I just can't stand the 'Starship Troopers' narration at the start of every episode.
I don't watch on TV because on Blu-ray they are presented in 2:35:1, and also the commercial breaks aren't even evident. The whole episode flows perfectly
Was S4 an improvement over S3? I don't have cable so I blind-buy these, and S3 was a big disappointment. Generally I stay interested in this show because I love the original trilogy and this is eye candy, but after S3 I'm wary.
Bringing back dead villians, just because they're popular and cool, always seemed really lame to me. Its a sure sign they're running out of ideas. Too bad they couldn't make that live-action star wars show work. This one was just to childish for my taste.
The Clone Wars is the best "animated" series and in-depth stories being made. Each season has its excellent episodes & forgetable ones, and S4 has more good ones- specifically the Clone arch and the return of Maul. Like earlier comments, a disappointment with the special featurette compared to Season1 & digibook. I recommend the blu-ray to the DVD version; the picture is so much sharper on HD. It'll be a great buy when it's on sale, never pay regular price.
Hopefully they return to the digibook format. I have no idea why season 3 was not digibook, it does not match the previous 2 sets I have. Hopefully, they release season 3 in digibook at some point in the future.
Looking forward to this. Day one for sure! Bummer about the dwindling features and no digibook tho. At least we still have the video commentaries to go along with this awesome show! This show has rejuvenated my love for the films last couple of years and I hope it goes out with a bang next season. Still waiting to upgrade my Tatakovsky dvds too!
The Clone Wars sucks worse than Jar Jar ! When are the going to release the Tartakovsky Clone Wars to blu-ray. Its far superior. This show ripped off its stylized look ! This series is worse than the Holiday Special !
